Carl Finlay set to drop his eagerly anticipated single March 16th, followed by his debut album March 30th!

Hot on the heels of the success of his previous single ‘So Hard to Be Happy’, which received BBC Radio 6 airplay, Carl Finlay has announced the release of his next single, ‘Message to the Dreamer’ and his debut album, ‘Follow the Moon’.

An eclectic mix of folk – drawn from his Irish roots, combined with rock and reggae influences, Carl conveys raw emotion, positivity and enlightenment through his music. He studies mankind’s ideologies through his intricate style of musical storytelling, and with tracks such as ‘Message to the Dreamer’, divulges an upbeat, positive word to the wise. It’s due for release March 16th, you can listen to it here: https://soundcloud.com/carl-finlay/carl-finlay-message-to-the-dreamer

His current ‘Mercury’ however has a much more sombre tone, a beautiful song about a lost love that truly touches the heart. Featuring mellow beats accompanied by Finlay’s unique vocals, ‘Mercury’ is the perfect track to help you through the chilly transition from winter to spring. It’s available now for a free download: https://carlfinlay.bandcamp.com/releases

You can check out the video here! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUo8hHeTfXE

Working with the prestigious Rupert Cobb (The Killers, Muse, Massive Attack, Paul Simon) who played a key role in mastering the album, Carl’s new album is an insightful delight for the ears that is not to be missed!

‘Message to the Dreamer’ the single is due for release March 16th, followed by the ‘Follow the Moon’ album on March 30th.

Asylums
Wet Dream Fanzine
Cool Thing Records
16 February 2015
First they killed your television... Then, their faces were in music magazines... Now they’ve had a wet dream...

NEW SINGLE & EP SET FOR RELEASE RELEASED ON FEBRUARY 23RD - recently made Zane Lowe's Future Radio 1 playlist on BBC R1 + support from Steve Lamacq, John Kennedy, Huw Stephens, Phil Taggart and many more.

Asylums want to take you on a trip...back to the days of chainsaw guitars and chaotic fun! They release their debut EP ‘WET DREAM FANZINE’ and the new single of the same name onFebruary 23rd via on their very own label, Cool Things Records.

The ep features the vigorous title track, in which the band take a swipe at sex and the internet, alongside their two previous DIY blasts of explosive Southend fuzz. The Death Of Television introduced them in a perfectly formed 1 minute and 20 seconds of sharp, angular edges which instantly won the attention of John Kennedy at XFM and Phil Taggart at Radio 1.
The smash n’ grab hooks of ‘I’ve Seen Your Face In A Music Magazine’ followed. By now the likes of Radio1 and XFM were playing them a lot and NME, Clash, Loaded, Louder Than War and Subba Cultcha were writing very very nice things about them. Headline shows, club nights plus a tour with Cobain favorites The Vaselines proved unequivocally that Asylums are an utterly glorious and furiously unstoppable live band. And, aren’t they the very best kind?
A band steeped in 90’s indie and the US underground, their catchy, thoughtful odes to isolation, commercialization and loss of innocence together with gigs gigs and more gigs - plus homemade videos staring sock puppets, of course - have helped them build a fanbase and a community, and, all of this, with no...social...media...not so much as a tweet was heard from them...til...now!!!
The band will be making their first, tentative steps into the world of social media in the 2015. Concentrating to date on building a fanbase, a community, playing as many shows as possible and getting their music to people they think may appreciate it enough to play it on the radio or write about it may seem unusual these days but the band felt they’d wanted to have something to talk about rather than trying to build followers with instagram photos of their dinner. Revolutionary, we know; Luke; “None of the bands we loved growing up had social media, so we thought we’d hold off using it as long as possible. We wanted things to build organically and for people to bring their mates to shows, to have something happening for the right reasons. We want to continue that ethos using social networking and just make it that bit easier for people to find us”

Victoria

VIDEO: youtu.be/mQWBuHubv5Q

"A London based phenomenon, the group’s soaring songwriting is imbued with an epic sense of ambition. Crisp electronic production matched to a real pop nous, the group have already earned admiring glances." - CLASH

"Fresh off the press, we bring you newcomers Victoria’s début single ‘Into the Wild’. Their début release has clearly been crafted with large crowds in mind. Soaring vocals intersperse euphoric highs and expansive indie rhythms, immediately positioning the band in the leagues of fellow Londoners Eliza and the Bear and Bristolites Coasts." - Bitter Sweet Symphonies

"If you like your indie pop sounds big and anthemic then you’ve come to the right place. London based combo Victoria have already played to a sell out crowd in Hoxton and it is only a matter of time before the venues start getting much bigger but the ‘sold out’ sign will remain on the door. “Into The Wild” is a vast, rousing track, the kind that deserves a suitably widescreen video, sporting montage of triumph over adversity or a large festival crowd jumping up and down. Hell, it’ll probably get all three and so it should. Another group to keep an eye on." - Alphabet Bands

Ghostess’ is talented London singer Jake Morley’s first full single release in almost two years.

Formed in Bristol in 2013, melodic hardcore/punk band Milo's Planes began as a duo of Joe Sherrin (guitar, vocals and bass) and Harry Sherrin (drums and backing vocals).  After recording their first album they were joined by Charlie Horne (bass and backing vocals) who was a natural fit, sharing a love of Wire, Fugazi, Leatherface, Lync, Rites of Spring, early Modest Mouse and Pavement.

Priding themselves on their DIY approach to their music, the trio record and produce all their tracks themselves on a sixteen track in Harry's bedroom.
Joe's guitar playing is influenced heavily by the nineties emo/post hardcore band Lync; he uses a off-beat  tunings as a means to create interesting chords.

The band have earned support slots for Eagulls, Skaters, Traams, Electric Eel Shock and their hero Mike Watt, who made a cameo appearance in their music video for 'Two Feet In a Crowd'.

'Aural Palate Cleaning Exercises' has been a labour of love with Joe spending months re-ordering track listings, carefully editing exact track lengths, dropping songs and adding piano interludes/snippets of radio samples to make it flow as one complete piece.

Of the subject matter, Joe says largely focuses on his experiences within soul destroying, bureaucratic admin jobs and the seemingly endless supply of bizarrely ordinary characters that can only be found within these roles. He explains "A large part of the fun I have writing lyrics is studying the mundane to the point where tiny details can be unearthed, exposed as real concerns and then exaggerated upon maniacally as a way for me to express the true feelings of frantic despair I feel sitting at a desk for 8 hours of my day.  Being pretentious I would say a running theme of the album is using language as a means to disguise tiny, nit-picky & personal matters as universally angry subjects worth shouting about."

In between 'A Letter In Confidence' and 'Interlude 2' is a hidden track; a shortened acoustic version of an earlier track - this was a concious effort to end the album in what Joe describes as a "dissonance of feedback which quickly resolves into something pretty & melancholy, with the album's final words ("I have good intentions, but I never know why") a statement intended to summarize the whole album."

"A band who are fast, furious and who ooze passion and drive. A band who evoke memories of all your favourite bands and who surprise you with punchy, urgent melodies when youre least expecting to find them. And a band who are more than the sum of their parts, with busy songs chock full of ideas. And most importantly were left with a band who now have their own sound and identity and who dont deserve to be described by referencing other bands anymore."
Louder Than War

"Young kids who tore it up big time; reminded me of Rites of Spring"
Mike Watt and The Missingmen

"Having spent their first year dropping a string of statement releases, its not really strange that Milos Planes have kicked off the new one with such resolute volume The aggression and sheer pummel of the music does the talking, coming in a coherent package of joyous flair and rippling guitars, that so greatly echoes Sonic Youth and other fuzz-endorsing bands."
Bristol Live Magazine

"Its a confident track (Two Feet In a Crowd), breezy and catchy; distorted vocals you can shout along with and a finish that builds nicely. Im impressed with Milo's Planes and recommend you check them out."
