Artist: PanicIsland

EP release: ‘Cabin Fever’

Out: 18th May

Label: Flat 4 Records

Mixing heartfelt angst with anger and frustration they have created a debut produced by Paul Tipler (Idlewild, The Horrors, Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster) that is deep in spirit, with an uplifting anthemic attitude that brings hope into the darker moments. Comparatively the sound is harder to pin down, some might consider them a Rock version of 'Hurts', but you wouldn’t be too far off to think this is a fresh take on alt rock that might just bridge the gap between The Killers and QOTSA.

Panic Island is set around powerful North London songwriting duo Arron Sans and Vinnie Shimia who met in Spain in 2012 during a show performed by ‘The Cult’ and instantly realized they shared the same passion for hi-energy performance, catchy songs and guitar hooks. Both set out to create a new rock band inspired by guitar anthems, contemporary pop songs and the iconic power of the archetypal ‘Rockstar’.

Having grown up with performance on the brain, Arron dabbled in acting and film production before finding music & song writing as his natural expression, he shows off his talents through the bands creative concepts and poetically cryptic lyrics. His performance is one of raw projection, driven by passion and intensity.

Vinnie has been in love with the guitar since he was 13, he moved from Brazil to London to get away from the discipline of a traditional home and to pursue his aspirations in music. Intricate guitar arrangements and textures are crucial to his writing. With a slick live ability Vinnie performs with rock ‘n’ roll attitude and charisma.

“PanicIsland is the place within us all that holds the deepest, darkest, emotions. It is filled with conflict between our dreams and personal demons. We are always running from this place, no one wants to be there, it is the catalyst that keeps us moving and creating. We cannot escape it and if we stand still for too long, it will consume us!” - Arron

Refreshingly honest, surprisingly unpretentious and yet damned right ballsy, welcome to PanicIsland.

‘Cabin Fever’ their Debut EP is due for release 18th May.

Formed in 2006, The Valkarys are an Edinburgh based psychedelic/garage band. Songwriter Scott Dunlop on lead vocals and guitar is joined by Craig Birrell on lead guitar, Colin Brennan on bass and Wayne Hoy on drums.

The quartet first came to the attention of UK radio stations with their debut single 'Candy Girl', released in 2006 on Diffusion Records.  The single was supported by a two week UK tour that won the band a stong fanbase through their blistering live appearances.

After relocating to London, The Valkarys released their debut album 'The Average Can Blind You to The Excellent'.  The album won favour from Carl Barat of The Libertines who played tracks at his London club nights.  The band were invited by Alan McGee to play the legendary Death Disco at Notting Hill Arts Club and they also made a live appearance at the Babyshambles club night in Camden.

'(Just Like) Flying With God' follows the success of two well received EPs 'Chloroform' and 'Psychodelica', extensive UK touts and a coveted support slot with Exit Calm.

The Valkarys have recently returned to Edinburgh are set to increase their profile further with this highly anticipated release, their most innovative and cutting edge collection of songs to date.

Stephen Langstaff
Sirens
Hug Records Absolute/Universal
23 March 2015
Stephen Langstaff releases soul-inspired pop ballad 'Sirens' today. Describing the track as "a song about a girl with a bad reputation and a big heart", the release follows Stephen's recent appearances alongside iconic Liverpool bands Space, China Crisis, The Lightning Seeds and Ian McCulloch of Echo and the Bunnymen.

With support from BBC Merseyside, BBC Radio 2 and 6 Music and with his songwriting skills in demand form other artists such as Blue Miller and Artful, this debut release gives us the first glimpse of an incredibly talented and exciting musician.

"One of Merseyside's most consistent lone troubadours, Langstaff blends emotive soulful pop with a natural stage presence"
Peter Guy, Get Into This, Liverpool Echo

"There's something very special about Stephen Langstaff's writing and music spirit"
The Lowdown Magazine

"Spellbinding vocal work and laid back guitar that recalls the more credible side of Damien Rice"

The Jade Assembly
One Last Time
4 May 2015

The saying 'can't see the wood for the trees' could easily be applied to Manchester's music scene... So many bands, so much attitude, so much history.  Keen to stand apart from their contemporaries, The Jade Assembly are in this for the long haul and for the right reasons, nothing is fabricated or posed, their attitude comes from an inescapable force of conviction in their music.
From the passion of Watson and Danny's rhythm section, to the raw power of Smed's guitar work, each Jade Assembly tune has a clear sense of purpose, nothing is contrived.
Central to their main point of difference is John Foster (Foz), a true northern poet and songwriter that places honesty above favour, a frontman who possesses an imposing sense of belief, not devoid of arrogance - but full of commitment.
As John puts it "Every word counts. Some people can't see the wood for the trees, but if you don't see The Jade Assembly - you're missing the best bit of the forest..."

''Best Guitar band since Kasabian''
Clint Boom, XFM/Inspiral Carpets

''Flying flags and empowering crowds, with their anthemic rock and roll, The Jade Assembly are he enthusiastic spawn of the Britpop ere''
Emily Schofield, The Mover Music Blog

''The Jade Assembly enter like a hurricane and instantly blow away any audience drawn into their path''
Frank Floyd, Louder Than War

''What sets aside The Jade Assembly from the plethora of indie-rock try hards that litter the music scene of the modern day is that the band are not merely going through the motions of a tired genre but reinventing it, giving it new life and allowing it to rise from its own ashes''
Ian Critchley , Louder Than War

''TJA are one of, if not the most, interesting band swimming in an otherwise tepid sea of indie-rock'' Ian Critchley Louder than war
''The Jade Assembly what you do is amazing''

WHO ARE MEN WITH VEN?

Three men and nearly as many chords, on the road from Barking to Deptford.

Telling it the way it is, in pubs and markets, treading the highway and the sticky carpet.

There’s no stopping them: the dogs have seen the rabbit.

The odds are long but they are worth a flutter.

They respect everyone but trust no one except their tailor.

They dodge all the blue lights and put you bang to rights.

They are Men With Ven.

WHAT IS VEN?

Not just the plural of van, but a mystical substance infusing a unique worldview…

A bit like Zen, only faster and funnier.

WHAT DO THEY SOUND LIKE?

They sound like Chas’n’Dave having sex with Kraftwerk.

Ingrid Frosland
Dare to Believe
19 March 2015
Ingrid Frosland brings you music that blends acoustic folk with upbeat Scandinavian pop. Whether its being lead by fragile fingerpicking, electric guitar and delay, or a banjo groove, her music is captivating.

Ingrid currently divides her time between Liverpool and Norway, and her ambiguous relationship with her sense of home is a recurring theme in her song writing, a Scandinavian version of Regina Spektor, Gabrielle Aplin and Daughter.

Over the last few years, Ingrid Frosland has played festivals like Liverpool Sound City and Musikkfest Oslo.  She set attendance records on her recent winter tour in Norway and played several gigs in The UK. Shes had tracks played on BBC Merseyside and on Tom Robinsons Mixtape on BBC Radio 6 Music, as well as receiving both regional and national radio play in Norway (NRK P3).

Its with the racing beat and the strumming of the guitars that youre
lifted higher towards the sky with all of the dreams laced in between

Yeah Buddy, Liverpool

Emilio Pinchi shows the depth of solo-performing talent we have in this city, possessing some fine tunes
Bido Lito!

Influenced by the likes of Elliott Smith and The Antlers, Liverpool based Emilio Pinchi carves his own perspective on folk-punk, offering a stark, honest outlook on everyday life.
Having racked up performances around the Midlands and North West, Emilios music has been aired on BBC Introducing and other independent stations, and he has recently performed live sessions for both BBC Merseyside and BBC stoke.
Staying true to his roots, 2014 saw Emilio release Trying Man, a track he produced in his kitchen after shunning established studios for a DIY approach. The lo-fi record has since grabbed the attention of the Liverpool music scene, and has garnered positive opinion from Bido Lito, amongst other blogs and reviewers.
The latter half of the year has seen Emilio quietly cause further excitement, playing a plethora of unique shows which have included a support slot with Nell Bryden at The Arts Club, an appearance on Bay TV Liverpools televised launch show, and even a live performance on a moving train.
Emilio will spend the first half of 2015 working on a compelling new project, which will involve the recording and release of new material in a truly singular fashion.

Delilah
Any Last Words
16 March 2015

Delilah was born after Michelle and Alex first met at their auditions for the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts.

Taking influence from contrasting artists such Amy Winehouse and Kendrick Lamar, the duo have a self confessed eclectic taste in music. This, paired with their organic and collaborative writing style, are the ingredients for their unique sound, which Michelle describes as 'Both of our personalities personified'. The combination of Michelles soulful voice and Alexs intricate guitar playing, bring a certain class and retro vibe to an undeniable contemporary groove.

Since their creation in 2013, the band has played countless shows, becoming regulars at local events as well as appearing at Fiesta Bombarda and Liverpool International Music Festival. More recently, they have travelled further afield to perform in venues up and down the country, recently supporting Anthony David at London's Jazz Cafe and appearing on numerous radio stations including the BBC.

"Sophisticated, jazzy and smooth. The vocals are feisty but not too overpowering."

Striking Matches-

half lyric video half music video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmBpnCeX0ms

Striking Matches is Sarah Zimmermann and Justin Davis. Sarah, a Philadelphia native and Justin, from Atlanta, met when a professor at Belmont University in Nashville paired them at random to play for a classroom full of guitar majors. The pair has been writing and performing ever since. Striking Matches’ debut self-titled EP was produced by Luke Wooten (Dierks Bentley, Dustin Lynch) with all four tracks co-written by the band. The EP released October 2012 was named among iTunes "Best of 2012" and enabled the duo to score features with NPR and The Wall Street Journal. In December 2012, Striking Matches made their debut on the Grand Ole Opry where they have subsequently played more than twenty-five times. The duo has had nine songs featured on ABC's hit show "Nashville.” Striking Matches has shared the stage with Train, Ashley Monroe, Hunter Hayes, Martina McBride, The Band Perry, The Fray, Billy Currington, Kip Moore, John Hiatt, and many more. They were named a CMT Listen Up artist in September 2013 and became the first artist signed to the newly launched I.R.S. Records Nashville with their debut full length effort produced by T-Bone Burnett to be released in 2015.

From the windswept valleys of a very British countryside to pastel hued dreams of Hollywood darlings, Suburban Girl - the brand new track taken from the forthcoming debut album of Yorkshire producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Postcards from Jeff - further explores a love of Lynchian style, in particular, Twin Peaks tragic heroine Laura Palmer.

Its about the projection of fantasy; getting lost in the worlds of people we watch on the silver screen, obsession, glamour, and desire, reveals Postcards From Jeff alter ego Joss Worthington. It references being mesmerised by someone and the ideas you project onto them

Equally reflecting a penchant for the skilled soundtracks of Angelo Badalamenti, David Torn, and Alexandre Desplat, and the relationship between Alfred Hitchcock and Tippi Hedren whilst filming The Birds, Suburban Girls influences are as broad as they are wide. With a sparkling melody that paves the way for Worthingtons deadpan baritone, each melodic twist and turn is like a one-way window onto someones multifaceted life. I always like to invent a world for the songs to live in so I'm often creating visual images in my mind to accompany the lyrics, Worthington explains. I like to see the lyrics as little movies although they are always more abstract than that.

Helping to realise his vision, Worthington has once again turned to his blossoming friendship with Brighton-based filmmaker-photographer Steve Glashier (whose showreel credits include videos for Primal Scream, Prodigy, Fatboy Slim, and Julliette Lewis). Having created the videos for previous Postcards tracks 'A House' and the Wim Wenders inspired 'Awake', what originally began as a simple musical project has now evolved into a fully-fledged tragic-romantic narrative, with 'Suburban Girl' akin to a sequel in Postcards From Jeffs ever-evolving trajectory.

We wanted to take the people from A House and explore their world a bit more, reveals Worthington. There were a lot of considerations to getting it right though.

Shot on location in Brighton using Glashiers heavyweight Medium Format camera, the videos timeless look appears to be the point at which the glitz of LAs Hollywood Hills and European Cinematic influences meet. Adding to its fly on the wall voyeuristic style, the films concentric circles focus in on the glamour puss meets girl-next-door character who recalls the femme fatale of Edie Factory Girl Sedgwick and leaves you with more questions than it does answers.

Theres a glamorous element to the characters but darker undercurrents make things a lot weirder, Worthington explains. I was quite adamant about exploring that in a balanced way, I didnt want it to be judgemental nor did I want the characters to seem too aspirational.

Written, played, recorded, mixed and mastered by Postcards From Jeff in his Distant City studio located in the midst of Yorkshires rolling landscape, Suburban Girl marks the point at which the world outside has become a new sonic playground for Worthingtons vast melodic exploration. Be one of the first to experience it when Postcards From Jeff broadens his horizons even further and plays some special shows this spring ahead of the eagerly anticipated debut album.

"A dreamy ride that gets inside of you in a good way. This is a new type of dreampop, folks. Get on board, take a journey."
In Your Speakers

"Taking vast almost cinematic synth beds and layering them with indie melodies and a gentle and somewhat understated vocal, this is dreampop with expansiveness."
I Love Pie

"A Brooding Indie Pop masterclass."
Fecking Deadly

"Somewhere poetry meets pop, electronica and folk dosado, film and reality collide and Postcards From Jeff takes all these inspirations and weaves them into new stories, new songs, new roads."

VIDEO (Just posted/Unlisted on YouTube until its official premiere next week!)

https://youtu.be/f2hwQ7L-D0s

To support the 'World Earth Hour' on March 28th, Giulia recorded a special acoustic performance of her single and changed the lyrics to 'Turn Your Light Off' - coming next week!

Giulia is a young Italian beauty with the wisdom of the world firmly woven into the foundation of her upbringing.  Born in Rome, Giulia experienced an eclectic and well-traveled childhood as her family moved from Italy to Argentina, then back to Europe before she decided to focus her musical development in the cultural and creative melting pot of London. The only daughter to Marco Doná dalle Rose, who was a professional polo player, and Flavia Persone - a successful fashion entrepreneur, competitive ambition and exuberant expression were a genetic gift to the young Giulia.  Her early years in Argentina exposed the Giulia to the music that firmly embedded itself in her subconscious and went on to influence her later writing and recording style. Classic, Country, Soul, Blues & Jazz favorites such as Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald could all be heard coming from Giulia’s bedroom.  Whilst other 12 year olds would favor more bubble gum pop, the entranced Giulia was furnished with a more sophisticated palate for music at its greatest.
