Growing up in the same tiny Devon village as Joss Stone, inspired by the pure vocal style of Doris Day and driven to pick up the guitar after watching KT Tunstall, 22 year-old Devon sweetheart Alex Hart has been busy performing live across the West Country with her Taylor guitar and rhythm stomp box since she was just 14 years old.
‘Green Light’ is the new single from the album ‘On This Day’ which has received plaudits from the popular music press.
Alex will be touring in June/July supporting the likes of Ben Montague, Lotte Mullan and JJ Draper.
Quotes
Maverick magazine: "Alex Hart. You will not know her yet, but pretty soon I predict you just might. This young singer-song writer from Devon looks all set to make a global impact, with her distinctive voice and classy, commercial brand of modern day country music."
Rock Society Magazine: "First thought is this lady has to be from the States but no, she is from Devon. Incredible, what a great voice and what a great sound all round. Alex Hart surely has a major future ahead of her with what has been described in one place as West Country Country….Her voice is so distinctive and she has the true singer songwriter ability of being able to get hold of a guitar and pull it all together. Every song has a true life story and they all have something different. Brilliant beginning to a big career."
R2 Magazine: “Although her songs have the prerequisite sampling of the darker side of life there is a pleasant lightness of touch that infects the whole of 'On This Day' and lifts the album high above the average. The key is her voice. There is a richness and maturity that belie her tender years. It’s a perfect modern country voice but still versatile enough to complement the other styles with which she flavours her tunes.”
5* review in latest issue of Maverick: "So word is spreading fast about this new breathe of fresh talent. 'On This Day' is one of those records that grows on you and throws up something new each listen. Infectious even. Here is a new name that will undoubtedly evolve, develop and grow into an important addition to the UK’s current crop of classy country and roots artists, putting this little island on the map globally.”
