Breakthrough artist Kungs has announced the release of his debut album, ‘LAYERS’. Forthcoming on the 4th November, the album follows the chart-topping success story of previous singles ‘This Girl’ and ‘Don’t You Know’ from the young French talent.

An avid music fan and brimming with ideas, Kungs built in plenty of studio time whilst touring to create this debut LP. Full of collaborations, ‘LAYERS’ explores Kungs’ various musical moods and inspirations.

First track ‘Melody’ sets the tone for the album. A collaboration with Luke Pritchard of The Kooks, the single was based just on a guitar chord tab, a bassline and a beat and was finished within a day. It’s followed up with well-known singles ‘This Girl’ and ‘Don’t You Know’, before the more reflective ‘You Remain’ featuring Ritual.

Meanwhile, the distinctive vocals of Wolfgang Valbrun - from one of Kungs’s favourite bands, Ephemerals - feature on the uplifting ‘Freedom’ and catchy ‘I Feel So Bad’, whilst Judge appears on the melancholic ‘Crazy Enough’.

Female vocalists also add a new dimension to the Kungs sound, on ‘Trust’, ‘Bangalore Streets’ and ‘Tripping Off’ (Rae Morris, Freia and Lune respectively.)

‘LAYERS’ is an apt name for this release; the overall sound perfectly demonstrates Kungs’ fusion of influences. From blues, soul and rock to house, Kungs takes elements of each to form his distinctive, likeable sound. Live brass choruses, acoustic guitar, piano, soulful voices and gentle basslines come together in varied combinations to reflect different emotions - the sign of a true musician.

The release of ‘LAYERS’ comes after what was, needless to say, a whirlwind year for Kungs. Aside from the huge success of his debut singles, he’s come off the back of incredible summer of touring, with 60 gigs in 12 countries. This debut LP is only the beginning of a bright future for this talented young artist.

About Kungs

Hailing from the South of France, 19 year old Valentin Brunel had been obsessed with music for many years before he shot to fame with ‘This Girl’. It reached no1 in France within a month before going on to hit no1 in 39 other countries; it has now amassed 300 million streams, 130 million views, 10 million Shazams, 1.5 million downloads and an adjusted figure of 4 million singles. His follow-up, ‘Don’t You Know’ ft Jamie N Commons is now building on the global success of its predecessor.

Despite his young age, Kungs has been working on his music for many years. Having began by learning the Djembe as a child, Kungs experimented with a number of other instruments having discovered soul and funk from his parent’s record collection. Growing up, he also listened to blues and rock before spending hours teaching himself Ableton live whilst still in school, forging a new love for house music. His very first tracks on Soundcloud received an overwhelmingly positive reaction, and soon he was getting official remix requests - his Lost Frequencies remix clocked up 30 million streams on Soundcloud and near double that on YouTube.

Fast forward a year and Kungs is now globally renowned for his musical talents  and perfectly positioned to release his first LP effort.

Since the release of debut EP “Hush” in 2014, Heroes In Hiding have gathered a momentum that is now in full pendulum swing. The burgeoning band are center stage in Ireland as one of the most promising talked about acts on the scene. Having performed at festivals such as Electric Picnic, Forbidden Fruit, Castlepalooza, BD Festival, Life Festival, even securing a slot at Iceland’s Secret Solstice festival – the band have just released their first LP titled ‘CURTAINS’ to critical acclaim.

The first single from the LP, which was released earlier in the year: “No, You're a Rabbit” graced many airwaves across Ireland including coveted National Playlists. Follow up track ‘Hospital’ is out now and has been received with National acclaim from National Radio (Today FM, Rte1&2, BBC all awarding it with ‘Track of the week/day’), National Press (The Star, The Irish Times) and many more. Recorded by Jack Dunne and Cian Donohoe in Windmill lane and Block C Studios, the LP was Mixed and Mastered by Martin Quinn in Jam Studios in Kells.

‘Hospital’, the lead single, documents a recent close encounter with death by a member of the band Joe Carroll: "I was on my way home from a friend's birthday party on a hired coach. There weren't enough seats so I was standing up at the back. I leaned back and fell out of the door and onto the motorway. I don't remember much of the incident itself and the next thing I remember was lying on a trolley in the hospital in a neck brace. Luckily I didn't sustain any lasting injuries but I was fully aware of how close I came to being much worse off. On my second day in hospital I heard a nurse using some sort of machine behind the curtain on the patient next to me. It was bleeping with two harmonious tones. Something told me I had to make a song out of it so I recorded it on my phone (which had miraculously survived the fall). A few days later when I was at home and feeling a little better I put the recording onto my laptop and recorded a rough draft of the song "Hospital". The song is a document of my experience that night, and my realisation that life is very fragile and something to be cherished."

HEROES IN HIDING ARE: Joe Carroll - Vox and Acoustic Guitar, Liam McCabe - Vox, Bass, Violin, Sax, electronics, Oisin Jacob - Vox, Electric Guitar and Kalimba and Cian Donohoe – Drums & Percussion.

HAIL TAXI DROPS EP NEWS & VIDEO SINGLE FOR 'CRYSTAL CLEAR'

Hailing from the landscapes of Edmonton, Alberta Canada comes a humble story of a solo singer/songwriter and performer - Nathaniel Sutton. While predominantly delivering folk-based indie-rock, you'll discover deeper splashes of alt-country, pop and EDM sensibilities with eclectic influences that parallel elements from artists like Folk Implosion and Beck.

Nathaniel Sutton (aka Hail Taxi) struck some inevitable fate when he was approached by Engineer Records back in 2005 (with him being a huge label fan and buying releases over the years) and was asked to submit some of his own material to their label staff. The intrigue of who took notice to his relentless dedication/purchases as a label fan, soon realized that Nathaniel was a musician himself and developed a bond with the label as an emerging artist. This relationship would eventually lead to the release of his debut album 'Dramatic Scene' in 2005.

Now, being in his early 30's, Nathaniel Sutton returns to Engineer Records under his new moniker, Hail Taxi, and with his appropriately titled EP 'Apart For So Long'. The 5 track offering contains vibes of familiarity yet foreignness and maturity that can only be heard to understand. With the prospect of strong connections, brilliantly written music and strong work ethics, Hail Taxi is a name that is becoming more recognisable by the day; with no intentions of stopping anytime soon.

THE MAGIC ES ANNOUNCE NEW SINGLE ‘COLOUR UP MY WORLD’

Rollicking powerpop track will hit download stores on Friday 21st October

English pop-rockers The Magic Es will release their new single Colour Up My World on Friday 21st October via Oh Mercy! Records. The rough-around-the-edges slice of rock n’ roll showcases their knack for pure pop melodies, punkish energy and garage rock guitars.

Since forming in 2014, The Magic Es have been busy. All lifelong musicians with world tours, top 40 singles and a wealth of musical experience under their belts, the boys came together after a chance meeting at a wedding led to them finding common ground in the simple pleasures of classic records and high-energy rock n’ roll. As frontman Pete Thomson explains - “We’ve all been playing music for years. Stuart, Phil and I were playing at a friend’s wedding. The gig was in a marquee, which happened to be in Jasper’s garden. It turned out that Jasper not only had a garden fitting for a rock ‘n’ roll wedding; he was also a bass player of some pedigree and in the band Then Jerico. We shared stories about our various musical adventures, influences and aspirations and the band grew quickly from there”.

Their debut release Melody Jane received airplay on over 40 radio stations in the UK, USA and Australia, with BBC Introducing quick to reward their ear for melody with spins on BBC Norfolk and Britpop star Rick Witter making them Track of The Week on his Minster FM show. With Colour Up My World ready and the band raring to go, The Magic Es will be playing shows this Autumn. For more info, head to wearemagic.co.uk

NY pop-rockers Violet Mary will release their new single Figure It Out on Friday October 14th via Belly Of The Whale Music. The freewheeling slice of power-pop (lifted from their latest album All That We Seem) showcases Mel Muscarella’s powerhouse vocals, garage rock guitars and the band’s tight musicianship.

After years spent honing their sound with a rotating cast of musicians, core duo Mel and Mike Muscarella and Martin Dorren, Scott Cranfill and Joe Myers wanted to push themselves to the limit during the creation of their new album. All That We Seem stretches the boundaries of the bands imagination - from dense, orchestral, cinematic pieces to harmony-drenched pop hooks, the songs encompass 18 months of beautiful and terrible things in the lives of the band and their community and offers a fully realised statement from a revitalised band.

Upon release, All That We Seem was nominated in City Newspaper’s Best of Rochester for Best Album and Violet Mary was nominated for Best Original Band. The band has also shared the stage with fellow roots-rockers Gin Blossoms and Dawes and built a loyal following in their home state. As keen community and humanitarian activists the band also teamed up with Black Button Distilling to produce Raise Your Glass (a song about shared values of community and craft creation) and are heavily involved in The Ugandan Water Project, a grassroots organisation which has helped supply tens of thousands of Ugandans with clean water.

Artist : BARE KNUCKLE PARADE

Single : Come Alive

Impact Date : November 11th 2016

Label : Dirty 38 Records

Indie-rockers Bare Knuckle Parade release brand new single/video 'Come Alive' on the 11th of November 2016

Released through Dirty 38 Records ahead of a nationwide UK tour in November, 'Come Alive' embodies the raw, honest and captivating energy that any truly great rock anthem should; the song wears its heart on its sleeve with every belted line and every screech of the guitar.

“This song came out of such an organic place, and rings true with all of us – there is an underlying sense of freedom and release in this track that we all felt when we recorded it in the studio... and that same feeling is present every single time we play it live – it's a no bullshit record!” says frontman Jamie Beale.

Recorded live and produced by the band in an old theatre, the song is a potent taste of the bands upcoming debut album scheduled to be released in Summer, 2017.

“Recording our music live is important to us as our live shows are always chaotic, we wanted to capture that energy on record by just setting up in a room and making some noise without being tied down to a metronome! ” explains guitarist Tom Cory.

The music video for the song was filmed on an abandoned air field in Somerset - shot in one single take and edited in reverse it strives to capture the beauty in chaos in its' every fine detail – the band, along with director Chris Porter of Life is Art Visuals, took a simple idea out of the box and injected it with the life, spirit and chaos of a doomsday riot.

“There was such a powerful atmosphere on set because there was this constant feeling that something was going to get out of hand – we created all the realistic elements of what could've been a riot, an extra even le the set with a broken nose... In fact it was so convincing four armed police cars arrived on set, apparently the locals were terrified!”.

The video provides a perfect snapshot into exactly what fans expect from the minds of Bare Knuckle Parade. Conceived out of a drunken conversation around a bar table, the indie folk-rock powerhouse from Bath quickly gained a reputation for their 'packed out' energetic and compelling live performances around the country which has been described as“Sweat drenched, beer soaked pandemonium” and has gained support from the likes of Dermot O'Leary, Rhod Gilbert and Chris Evans.

Dead Days are an Alternative/Rock trio, comprising of brothers Travis Marc (drums/lead vocals) and DC (bass guitar/backing vocals), alongside their long-time friend James Mattocks (guitar/backing vocals).

The band formed in early 2016 citing their key musical influences as Billy Talent, Green Day, Foo Fighters, and Biffy Clyro.

Their electrifying approach to song-writing makes them an exciting new prospect and differentiating them from their contemporaries is their live set, which sees drummer Travis delivering spirited lead vocals.

British singer-songwriter DD Allen has announced the release of his new single ‘Just Like The Old Days’ available to purchase on all major media providers from October 28th. The new single is taken from DD Allen’s forthcoming album due out early 2017.

DD Allen first caught the attention of critics and fans alike when he supported James Blunt on the Bournemouth leg of his 2014 ‘Moon Landing’ arena tour.

Since then DD Allen has been putting the finishing touches on his debut album. On the new record, DD Allen has teamed up with an A-list team including double platinum selling producer / engineer Mike Spink (The 1975, Jake Bugg) and multi Grammy Award winner Andrew Scheps (Adele, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Hozier).

The yet untitled album was inspired by many great artists, including Bob Dylan, who Allen names as his greatest influence. The record also includes a cover version of Dylan’s ‘Don’t Think Twice It’s Alright’.

The new single ‘Just Like The Old Days’ is a melodic mixture of guitar riffs and soulful harmonica, laced with Allen’s signature raw vocals. Anticipation for the new release has met with excitement from fans and critics alike, who have noted Allen’s exceptional songwriting skills and electrifying live performances.

Fans can expect to see DD Allen live later this year, with more information available on his official website.
