Info

G.E.M (Groove Enlightened Minstrals) and their single "Train to bantham"

debut 'Maff' EP

FOR FANS OF:
Editors, Bob Mould, Husker Du, Pavement, Dinosaur Jr. and Slowdive (for 'Someday')

RECOMMENDED TRACKS: Linger Around, Walking On Fire, You, Million Year Picnic, Blue Seas, Someday

"Maff's music shows the worldwide spread of this particular style of very non rock electric guitar music. A whole world exists in which these guys excel. Love em"  Joe Foster (Creation Records)

"Where shoegaze meets grunge, but with beaming positivity"  The Record Stache

Hailing from Chile's capital Santiago, Maff present their debut self-titled EP, featuring 8 tracks that delightfully whisp you in a whirlwind through such genres as shoegaze, alternative rock, noise pop and indie verging on grunge, but with a dose of electronica thrown in the blend. It's no wonder how this has happened, considering the bands they cite as their main influences - The Jesus and Mary Chain, The Pixies, Ride, Sonic Youth, and My Bloody Valentine.

Maff is clearly having a beautifully combined love affair with guitar pedals and synth, bringing the listener into a cosmic zone, with feelings ranging from revolution-bent to melancholic and even romantic at times. "After 15 years of personally searching and making music, each band member came to encounter an inflexion point in their lives called Maff," says Ricardo (Richi) Gómez, founding member of Maff. "Maff is about serving music that liberates us from all our prior misconceptions," explains bandmate Gonzalo (Talo) Correa.

Although a young band, their sound has made its way into some notable ears. Upon hearing them, celebrated dreampop duo Ummagma has embraced their music and even created a radio edit for 'Walking on Fire'"It's rare that music this good from as far away as Santiago, for instance, finds a place among your faves, but that is exactly what has happened here.  This warms your skin and gives you goosebumps," explains Ummagma. Maff has also caught the attention of Creation Records' Joe Foster.

Maff was originally founded in 2012 by Richi Gómez (Vocals / Bass / Guitar) & Nicolás (Nek) Colombres (Drums), who have been friends since childhood and have previously played together in various punk rock bands. They were later joined by Martín Colombres (Guitar) and Talo Correa (Guitar / Bass / Vocals / Synth). Maff  composed, recorded and produced this EP in their own studio, lovingly called 'The Lab', owing to the experimental output they concoct. This EP explores such themes as innocence, mystycism, true love, loss, drugs, freedom and timelessness.

The Maff EP is available for pre-order on Bandcamp both digitally and on CD.

"Our flavour of the month, immersed in post-punk echoes" The Blog That Celebrates Itself

"A stunning band" Primal Music Blog

"Magical and ethereal. A shower of electric noises that echo out into the swirling space that is song. Reminds me of early Flaming Lips and Yo La Tengo with more shoegaze tendencies" - The Equal Ground

Electric Litany have been described as 'the next Radiohead' by Alan Parsons - renowned songwriter, musician and engineer for the likes of The Beatles (‘Let It Be’, ‘Abbey Road’) and Pink Floyd (‘Dark Side of the Moon’) They have created a timeless album against the odds with ‘Enduring Days You Will Overcome’. Influenced by the new wave likes of The Cure and Joy Division, but with a twisted contemporary approach, they've toured with the likes of Interpol, Alan Parsons, and soon Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.

‘bruising post punk…with beauty to their melancholy’ -  Clash
‘bleak and broody music has never been quite so thrilling’ - Guardian

Skellums was formed because "there was nothing else left to do".

The band strive to produce music with dignity and meaning rather than aspiring to join the long list of bands who have success, but nothing to say.

Forming their own record label Rent & Debt Records, their mission is to take on the world, one little venue at a time.

Underneath all the dirty guitars and pounding drums, there lives a pop song. Skellums believe, that as long as you have a decent melody, you can get away with all manner of noise. Pop songs with dignity.

In a world where every band has the same barber, and shares the same River Island gift card, Skellums are a little different. They may be a little rough around the edges, a bit pissed off and scruffy, but they certainly have something to say.

Love Buzzard have just unveiled their new video for single ‘Cash’ out 10th July on 1-2-3-4 Records (Babyshambles / The Buzzcocks) and it’s a fuzzy rampage of a track with a sickly animation- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAGuc5YZjtw

Track: Never Be Apart

The Pinstripe Pigeon Band began as a modest, yet ambitious studio project, incorporating production values inspired by Jon Hopkins, Nile Rogers and Cut Chemist, but this quickly developed into a seven-strong pop force, releasing five well-received EPs throughout 2013/14.?

The band's latest material?showcases intelligent sophisti-pop, electronica, funkadelia and anthemic rock The lyrics lovingly articulate personal experiences while finding humour in political and social despair. Kirsty's impassioned vocals hark back to Aretha at her most bombastic and Dusty at her most delicate.

Collectively, the band soak up songcraft and live influences from Fleetwood Mac, The Band, The Beatles, Ryan Adams, Motown, Chic, John Coltrane, The E Street Band and Ben Harper.

The band has the benefit of two keyboardists, one melodically inventive Stevie Wonder/Oscar Peterson-esqe pianist and another more classical, akin to?Ludvico Einaudi, both complimenting each other perfectly.
The energised live show is characterised by rousing intent, hitting a resonant chord with each new audience. The band grabbed the attention of local media with BBC Introducing Lancashire showcasing a live radio session and BBC Cumbria playing a live recording of the group at Carlisle Music City.

Live sets at The Ferret, 53 Degrees and Night & Day left a lasting impression in Preston and Manchester, and last August The Pinstripe Pigeon Band smashed it at Kendal Calling's Woodland Stage with new fans and old describing their set as one of the festival's highlights.

2015 will see the pop collective spreading its wings further afield, headlining Manchesters The Castle and Liverpool's Lomax later in the year.

Wales Lights That Change dish up slow-burning 'Voices' single feat. Mal Holmes (OMD)

"A truly beautiful slow burning slice of dreamy bright pop" - Louder Than War

"A brooding intro brings us into a sonic world, suggesting something of classic shoegaze flavour whilst shooting firmly for the mysterious unknown future...a radiosexy reinvigoration of early 4AD spirit" - Joe Foster (Creation Records)

FOR FANS OF: Dead Can Dance, Cocteau Twins,The Cure, This Mortal Coil, Marissa Nadler

Lights That Change is an alternative ethereal dreampop outfit, hailing from North Wales and headed by Marc Joy. After many years producing other artists, he finally turned his attention towards his own creative endeavours. Thus was born Lights That Change, channeling new energies into sculpting horizons of perfect dreamscapes, primarily based on guitars.

Lights That Change released their debut EP Rainbow On Your Shoulder in 2013, followed by Whispers in February and have received support from BBC, Tom Robinson, and Amazing Radio, among others.  Louder Than War has premiered the new single 'Voices', which was released on May 11. The newly-released video is simultaneously premiering on 50thirdand3rd and Jammerzine.

"I listened to the track hundreds of times to get a solid feel for the music. Images fell into place in my mind and then I reproduced them on the screen," explains British filmographer Jason Sheppard, who created this video.  "This has a lovely gothic feel to the sound but also a soundtrack theme to it. A soundtrack to your life."

Over the past year, Lights That Change have undergone a reformation, with Mandy Clare on vocals, John Bryan on bass and Marc Joy on guitars. Rebecca Palin (Golden Fable) and drums from Mal Holmes (Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark) both appear on this first single 'Voices' and elsewhere on their forthcoming debut LP Byzantium, expected later this summer.

Im extremely happy to be involved in Lights That Change, says Mal Holmes. This has given me the freedom to create something special for Voices and the new album doing what I love to do this is why I started playing drums in the first place.

The first single from this forthcoming album, entitled Voices, is chalked full of ethereal wave post-punk magic reminiscent of 4ADs golden era.  Mandy Clare lays mesmerizing vocals over a bed of drifting, powerfully moving soundscapes.  Lights That Change will also be bringing their new permanent lineup to U.K. live audiences soon.

"A haunting, shimmering, deceptively simple slice of widescreen shoegaze that knows 100% what it's all about. A winner" - Producer Fran Ashcroft (Damon Albarn, Lords of Acid)

"Sublime slice of dream-pop inspired heaven, full of hauntingly beautiful vocal tones, floating progressions & blissfully unassuming guitar lines" - Primal Music Blog

Chastity Brown who is based in Minnesota, USA.

In light of her forthcoming European tour, Chastity Brown now returns with  her single Long Way, taken from her latest album of the same name.
Described as being sweet as molasses and wood smoke, clear and burning as summer sun, Chastity Brown's heavy touring schedule  and quality music that is borne deep in the American bone paid off when she signed a full record deal with the Nashville label Creative And Dreams Music Network.
Her debut album Back Road Highways was recorded primarily at the venerable Helsinki South Studios in Nashville which included a roster of heavyweight studio musicians backing her up who have worked with the likes of Mavis Staples and Garth Brooks to name but a few.  Since the album release Chastity Brown received a number of rave reviews and hit the airwaves on a variety of radio stations around the world.
Chastity Brown has already caught the attention of the much acclaimed BBC's Jools Holland Show which she recently performed on, with more national and international exposure expected over the coming months on the back of this.
Details on how you can purchase Chastity Brown’s material Back-Road Highways and Long Way,
plus forthcoming gig dates

Jacqueline Rolston who is based in Norfolk, England.

Having been brought up in the North of England in a large creative family which exposed her to a wide variety of styles of music, Jacqueline Rolston discovered at an early age that writing songs came quite naturally to her.
After collaborating with a number of musicians, producers and engineers, she had the good fortune of having one of her tracks included in an indie film called The Only Game In Town which helped her increase her profile further and contributing towards her being spotted by producer Rob Cass from Abbey Road Studios.  The outcome of their collaboration is Jacqueline Rolston's new single The Island

“A London based phenomenon, the group’s soaring songwriting is imbued with an epic sense of ambition. Crisp electronic production matched to real pop nous, the group have already earned admiring glances” Clash

V I C T O R I A are Alex Thomas (guitar), Charlie Martin (keys), Chris Moore (drums), Harry Johnson (bass) and Joe Housley (vocals), five young guys who live in London and eat, sleep and breathe music - all masters of their craft - skilled players, songwriters and composers.

Refreshingly, the band makes unashamed pop-rock - infectious, feel-good anthems - from their North London house share. Their latest offering, ‘Summertime’, the new single set for release in August is an uplifting track that encapsulates the spirit of the often short-lived British summertime that rouses us briefly from hibernation year after year.

‘We were ready, we were waiting for the summertime.
We were feeling alive and our hearts just felt like home.’

Their energetic live performances and the individual personalities of these five riotous boys is captured entirely on record. ‘Summertime’ follows on from ‘Into The Wild’, V I C T O R I A‘s first single, released in February earlier this year.

You can catch the band live throughout the summer supporting Ella Eyre at Thorpe Park on July 24th and at the ‘Summertime’ single launch show at The Barfly in London on August 20th (Tickets available here:http://www.ticketweb.co.uk/event/victoria-tickets/183455)

Keep an eye on their social media for more dates and surprise performances.

“Current and classic. What a combination” Killing-Moon
“Stadium rock-bound” Fecking Deadly
“Aiming boldly for what might be described as an epic sound” Direct Current

Nicholas borrowed the name Bearpark from a remote village near Ushaw Moor, Northumberland, home to his late Grandad. It's a quiet, windy place between moorland and collieries, where miners were born and no-one goes - it seemed strangely fitting.

The songs on Wilderness End document a turbulent decade through the eyes of a rural Essex boy colliding with the glittering noise of London as Nicholas explains…

This is mostly an album about the things we do when we're kettled in together, all doing our best and trying be happy. I think we are wild animals at heart, not designed to live in cities. But live in them we do, with strange consequences. There are unrequited love songs, songs about depression, songs about lashing out, looking out and the changes to ourselves that we don't even notice until we try to return home.

It blends the pastoral, hymnal Americana of The Low AnthemBon Iver or Wilco with the distorted romanticism of Ed Harcourt and Sharon Van Etten. There are touches of colliery brass and the sad synthiness of Radiohead and John Grant, all held together by a deep love of words.

It's been a while in the making, because I spend a lot of my time playing keyboards with London band Revere, occasionally guesting with Gabby Young, and playing everything from guitar and piano to accordion and scissors for Scottish singer Kat Flint. Because I am a megalomaniac I initially planned to play everything; because I am part of an incredible scene in London (and a shit drummer) I leant on others - so Revere drummer Marc Rollins-McKie played drums; Revere frontman Stephen Ellis lent his celesta skills (and his celesta) and violinist Ellie Wilson played some violin. Then I enlisted the help of Kat Flint on vocals (she also designed the sleeve art).

Like its songs, the making of the album itself was pulled from city to countryside and back again, written in many locations - from a remote recording studio in Invernessshire (while making Revere's first record) to London, via the sofas of friends, exes and parents. Produced by Dave Moore (Revere, Polly Paulusma, The Laurel Collective), the songs were recorded everywhere from my flat in Brixton to analogue wonderland Urchin Studios in London Fields (which houses an amazing 19th century pedal organ used on album tracks Turn Around Take a Bow and Little Black Holes).

I don't know where it's meant to live: in the city or in the country… or maybe somewhere in between the two, at the edge of the wilderness.

I hope you like it. Thanks for giving it a listen.

Quotes

Maverick magazine: "Alex Hart. You will not know her yet, but pretty soon I predict you just might. This young singer-song writer from Devon looks all set to make a global impact, with her distinctive voice and classy, commercial brand of modern day country music."

Rock Society Magazine: "First thought is this lady has to be from the States but no, she is from Devon. Incredible, what a great voice and what a great sound all round. Alex Hart surely has a major future ahead of her with what has been described in one place as West Country Country….Her voice is so distinctive and she has the true singer songwriter ability of being able to get hold of a guitar and pull it all together. Every song has a true life story and they all have something different. Brilliant beginning to a big career."

R2 Magazine: “Although her songs have the prerequisite sampling of the darker side of life there is a pleasant lightness of touch that infects the whole of 'On This Day' and lifts the album high above the average. The key is her voice. There is a richness and maturity that belie her tender years. It’s a perfect modern country voice but still versatile enough to complement the other styles with which she flavours her tunes.”

5* review in latest issue of Maverick: "So word is spreading fast about this new breathe of fresh talent. 'On This Day' is one of those records that grows on you and throws up something new each listen. Infectious even. Here is a new name that will undoubtedly evolve, develop and grow into an important addition to the UK’s current crop of classy country and roots artists, putting this little island on the map globally.”

Supernaturally’ nods to classic UK garage and house, but that’s just the starting point; gifted with vocals from Yasmin, the track shows Preditah’s continued exploration beyond the grime sound that’s brought him to the forefront of the UK scene. Wrapped in the on point production that’s a staple of every Preditah release, expect to hear ‘Supernaturally’ all summer long, from warehouse raves to festivals, national radio and beyond.

Born in Birmingham, Preditah’s series of instrumental EPs, Solitaire EP, Eightsome EP, Circles EP, Red Bull EP, Gears of Grime, and El Futuro EP, ensured a growing presence on pirate radio and on the dancefloor.

His breakthrough track, ‘The Big Wok’, was noticed by JME (Boy Better Know), and this association helped cement his reputation, soon after he became the tour DJ for Skepta.

Taking into account his skills as a composer and guitarist (bass guitar), and his remixes for the likes of Skepta, Tempa, Jessie Ware, Disclosure, Blonde and Tchami, you have all the hallmarks of a prodigious talent.

Forthcoming Preditah shows include Sankeys Ibiza, Garage Nation, Tinie Tempah’s series of Pool Parties at Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza, Lovebox, Boomtown, Shakedown, Together at Amnesia, Creamfields, and many more.

CHALK who are based in London, England.

Having played as separate singer songwriters on the London acoustic scene for some time, Josh Fowley and Jonny Breakwell decided to join forces in September 2014 and write music influenced by some of their favourite electronic artists.
In the short time the duo have been together, they have already been featured in a number of publications, and performed at a selection of top London venues including The Enterprise next to Chalk Farm Tube Station where they played their first gig together and where their name originates from.

An alternative indie rock band formed in the Northeast, Abel Raise the Cain were brought together by a mutual love of atmospheric and epic indie soundscapes influenced by the likes of Arcade Fire, Sigur Ros and Editors.

The release of double A side single Too Late/The Promise' brought the band widespread critical acclaim leading to both singles receiving repeated airplay on radio stations across the UK, including regular plays on BBC Introducing. 'Too Late' was also playlisted on Brazilian National Radio & featured by Channel 4 on a primetime television program.

Regulars on the live circuit, Abel Raise the Cain have played shows across the UK, where they've earned a reputation for enthralling and energetic live performances, which have led to coveted support slots for Happy Mondays, Primal Scream, Dexys Midnight Runners, Spiritulized, Kodaline and Skaters.

The music video for new single Black Swans', taken from the forthcoming debut EP For Strangers Only, went straight to number one in the Beat 100 music chart which features bands from all over the world. The song also led to Abel Raise the Cain to win the Beat 100 Ultimate Musician award, recognising them as one of the most outstanding bands on the network.

Black Swans is a sign of things to come; an epic, sweeping message, the symphony of a Broken Heart.

"When the bubble or romantic suspense pops, a chorus, a wall of sound, a full culmination of six instruments really grabs the ears; A chanted motif, "I'm just too late", has rung around in my head since coming across Abel Raise The Cain. This is a 'big room' song."
Narc Magazine

"Abel Raise The Cain closed out 2012 with the release of their fantastic Double A-Side single, entitled Too Late /The Promise. The two tracks are great, with Too Late having the previously mentioned orchestral sound that builds up to a satisfying crescendo with Crichton delivering a repeated poignant line Im just too late that really sticks in the head. The Promise is equally majestic, but with a more varied structure of an acoustic opening, before building up to a huge cymbal-crashing middle-section and neatly wrapping up with a beautiful guitar line to draw the song to a close."
Hooting and Howling Magazine

'The Promise', their latest single, is a positive example of what is yet to come. A strong arrangement of components from a solid foundation to husky vocals. A distinct range of elements creates the perfect atmospheric soundscape. With riffs that blend well when harmonized with repetitive vocals, effective musical layers are produced adding to the depth of this song. Despite being a new act were sure these guys will take 2013 by storm. Such a promising act with evident talent, you would be a fool not to keep an eye out for Abel Raise The Cain this year."
Venture Mag Northeast

"'The Promise' is an ambitiously produced ethereal indie rock tune filled with tastefully layered guitar riffs and haunting harmonies. Sean Crichton's husky vocals are filled with intense depth and emotion that instantly sweep you off of your feet."
Cargo Collective

"An ambitious, bold sound for fans of Arcade Fire and Coldplay!"
Mixtape

"Abel Raise The Cain pack quite a punch a visceral live band, their post-rock is expansive and epic."
KYEO TV

"Even closer to home are Abel Raise The Cain and they seize their moment in the sun. A powerful atmospheric performance reveals clear and present signs of life on the Teesside music scene."

Calum Foad -

MeMeMe' off the back of some really encouraging BBC play and would be keen to try and get you on board for this release too! The track is a light hearted, fun-poking, summer jam about social media and the trivialities of it!

The music video for 'MeMeMe' is premiering on Wednesday 24th June, with a 2 track EP being released on July 13th.

The Talks are embarking on an extensive UK tour punctuated by European festival appearances, full details here: http://www.thetalks.co.uk/shows/4551324681

In just a short space of time The Talks have built themselves a compelling live reputation across the UK and Europe for delivering sweaty, high octane, dance floor filling shows, treading the boards with the likes of Madness, The Specials, Rancid, The Beat and many more.

2013 saw the band release their eagerly anticipated Westsinister E.P. along with singles Can Stand The Rain - featuring the legendary Neville Staple from The Specials and the YouTube smash Friday Night. The E.P. and respective singles achieved much success with Ska Punk and commercial listeners across the UK and Europe and also achieved the playlists of certain American, Australian and Japanese Ska orientated radio stations. With main stage performances at globally renowned festivals such as This Is Ska (DE), Mighty Sounds (CZ) and Rebellion, tweets of appraisal and support from new wave big hitters Less Than Jake, glowing reviews and cover features from Big Cheese and Vive Le Rock Magazines - not to mention appearing in programmes on various UK TV networks - the bands reputation has surged from strength to strength.

In April 2014 the band released Dont Look Behind You, their first single from upcoming album Commoners, Peers, Drunks and Thieves, which boosted the bands popularity seeing them dramatically increase their touring schedule and break through further into commercial and alternative media across Europe. Proceeding with a successful second single "Radio" in their back pocket, The Talks shortly followed with new album Commoners, Peers, Drunks and Thieves' and set out on an extensive European tour. Totalling up 40 gigs spanning two months across 9 different countries, and about 10,000 miles of tarmac, the band were able to explore a lot of new, wide reaching territories and deliver the mayhem to brand new audiences in places such as Italy, Austria, Poland and Croatia.

'Commoners, Peers, Drunks and Thieves' was released on 24th November 2014, sale figures continue to rise and the tracks are continuing to attract air-play globally.

They embody the 2 tone sound of the Specials and the punkiness of Rancid. I know its early, but this EP is one of my favorites!
Read Junk

Its packed with lively upbeat tracks that prove Ska is not only alive and well but also, fresh and relevant.
MRU

(modern sub) 60s keys, slicing guitar, rolling bass line and snapping tight drumming, a cool and clear vocal
Studs and Punks

When it comes to ska, there's no more seminal figure than The Specials singer Neville Staple. He guests on his friend Pat's band The Talks ' new single which melds trad ska with reggae and punk influences, with a socio-political lyrical approach. Can Stand the rain is a belter from hull's finest.
Big Cheese Magazine

The Talks rock a blend of old school Jamaica ska infused with Two-Tone sensibilities and a refreshing lack of 3rd wave spaz.
SKa4U

A few of these rude boys, really look like boys but with the song's stuttering chorus, walking bass and propulsive horn line, easily erase any doubts about their maturity. Music Ruined my Life
