OXJAM Teignmouth presents: the pied busker of Teignmouth
Fundraising event on Saturday 19th September
Oxjam Teignmouth is hosting their second fundraiser on Saturday 19th September. Think The Pied Piper, imagine a travelling busker, consider a portable gig, and there you have it – the idea behind this exciting and innovative fundraising event. The ‘Pied Busker of Teignmouth’ will be walking the streets of Teignmouth to entertainpassers-by, with the intention of attracting an audience to follow and join in the merriment.
All funds raised throughout Oxjam go to Oxfam GB, so what better place for the busking to begin than the Oxfam shop in Teignmouth, on Den Road at 4pm. The Pied Busker will take you on a musical journey through the town and along the seafront, showcasing their talent, whilst you can dance and sing along. The audience will get the opportunity to donate as much money as they wish to volunteering oxjammers shaking collection buckets, in time with the music of course, in return for various Oxjam goodies or even a percussion instrument to join in with. The journey will conclude at Finley Browns Café, on Bank Street, where the Pied Busker will continue their set behind a microphone. There will be an additional entry donation.
As the big Oxjam Teignmouth Takeover event on Friday 16th October draws ever closer, efforts and excitement are heightening to raise awareness and funds. Come along on Saturday 19th September for some fun to support local musicians, and to raise money for Oxjam Teignmouth.

Pureland is Silverbird's debut album and is released on September 18th 2015.
Songwriter Tim Barr founded Silverbird after spending several years on New York's vibrant music scene playing gigs as part of Lana Del Reys band, opening for The Blow, and studying and playing with Dizzy Gillespies pianist protegee Mike Longo.
Barr and English producer Kristopher Harris recorded Silverbirds debut EP 'Surface Life', released in May 2014 to critical acclaim. Joined by Corey Davis on bass, Dan Whaley on lead guitar and Jacob Schuab on drums, Silverbird were soon selling out venues across NYC. With influences as diverse as Wilco, Heartless Bastards, and Sparklehorse, their music strides fearlessly through an ever changing emotional landscape. Infectious melodies and swirling, intricate rhythms combine to provide an absolutely enchanting soundscape.
2015 has already been incredibly busy for the band. The year started with two packed shows at the Brooklyn Night Bazaar and Black Bear, with many more shows and a tour to come. The track 'With the Spirits' from Surface Life was selected for the All Saints spring playlist and the song will be played in their 110 worldwide stores for three months. Tim is also featured on the packaging for Cakewalks Sonar Artist production software.

Flaunt follows its recent Billboard USA Club Hit DIPPED IN ECSTASY (CODON) with this appropriately celebratory club banger CONQUER! Taken from the recently released EP, SUBURBAN ROGUE ANIMAL.
Kyle Lettman and production duo Distant Light have teamed up on this Summer fuelled, Garage hit, Mind.
The shuffling hi-hats, beat skipping drums and percussive elements are bound together with the soulful and melodic tones of Kyle Lettman. Sprinkled with a layer of ad-libs and melo-dies, the track is one that certainly sticks firmly in your Mind and gives a nod to the classic Garage anthems of the 90’s.
Earlier this year, Kyle Lettman released his remake of Garage classic, ‘Moving Too Fast’. Dar-ing to medal with a classic track, the results were fruitful and Kyle received an incredible re-sponse across Radio and Online platforms seeing the record being supported across the BBC, Kiss and Capital networks. And it doesn’t stop there. 2015 has been quite the year for Kyle as he also opened the show at Omarion’s UK headline gig at KOKO helped by some se-rious online support from Pixie Lott!
Kyle isn’t the only one to have made some serious noise of late as production duo Distant Light hit the music landscape last year with their official remix of UK RnB singer Angel’s chart-topping track ‘Wonderful’. The garage number quickly got the stamp of approval from leading tastemakers DJ EZ from Kiss 100 and BBC 1Xtra’s DJ Cameo. Distant Light have worked their production magic on Ellie Goulding’s ‘Beating Heart’, Misha B’s ‘Home Run’ and top 10 smasher ‘All Cried Out’ by Blonde.
So it seems that this collaboration is topped for big things and ‘Mind’ is going to get us two-stepping in some serious ways!

Hailing from the South East, Miss Vincent released their second EP 'Reasons Not To Sleep' earlier this year to critical acclaim. The follow up to 2013 E.P 'Creepy', sees Miss Vincent at the end of a long journey. Playing their self-styled ‘moody punk rock’, paying homage to the likes of Alkaline Trio and AFI, 'Reasons Not To Sleep' see them take their craft to the next level.
Lead track: Black Butterflies
Originally from Loire Atlantique in France, singer/songwriter Angéline is now based in London, the city in which she studied for her music degree. She describes her latest EP 'Back to Pike Place' as bold and raw, contrasting with the more traditional nature of her first EP 'Home', released in October 2014.
Writing the songs for 'Back to Pike Place', Angeline explored her ideas through the creation of demos with backing vocals and sounds made with whatever she could find in her room, tapping rhythms on her guitar or desk. Demos were sent to her collaborator Garry Cosgrove who arranged Angéline's tracks, striving to keep her organic sound. This is the key reason why she considers the EP to be particularly interesting. "It was made at home using whatever we had around us. The purpose was not to be limited by money that I dont have, finding a way of creating songs with whatever is around me."
Of the tracks on the EP, Angéline says "Aama' is a very special song. I wrote it to pay tribute to Nepal using my Nepalese friend's testimony. Knowing how much suffering the earthquake caused I decided to give away the song in return for donations via justgiving.com. All funds go to the D.E.C charity for Nepal.
Inspiration for the EP has also come from Cuba. Angéline wrote these songs after visiting Havana recently to pursue her passion for Salsa dancing. The influence of Cuban beats can be heard clearly in the percussion on each of the tracks, but she also recorded the sounds of the streets, doing the same in London on her return. Those sounds link eack of the EP's tracks, taking the listener on a journey and highlighting the huge differences between her two favourite cities.

Laurence Jones, a stunning guitarist who has been described as "Blues Rocks youngest Talent in the UK"
The great news for blues-rock fans, live music lovers and aspiring musicians in and around Penzance, is that Laurence will be playing with his band at The Acorn on Saturday 19 September and put simply; this will be a great night and one show not to miss!
Laurence was voted "Young Artist of the Year," in the British Blues Awards 2014 and in the same year, won the first UK Blues Challenge, which saw him going on to represent the UK at the 5th European Blues Challenge that took place in Brussels in March 2015
Well before the release of his debut album in 2012 "Thunder In The Sky", a buzz rapidly built around Laurence and he soon began making a big name for himself...............BBC Radio 2 was sufficiently impressed to state that "Laurence is like a young Robin Trower, exciting and full of energy"
The young gunslinger of the blues was influenced by the likes of Walter Trout, Eric Clapton, Gary Moore, Rory Gallagher and Albert Collins. At only 23, he has clocked up some serious road miles touring throughout the U.K/Europe and in 2013, Walter Trout invited Laurence and his band to play as support on their U.K tour and said "Laurence is a cross between Eric Clapton & Buddy Guy, he is a genius"
In April, Laurence released his third album ‘What’s it Gonna Be’ with Ruf Records, featuring guests "Sandi Thom" and "Dana Fuchs". Recorded at headline music studio in Cambridge, Laurence co produced the album with Roger Album and wanted to use his own band Roger Inniss and Miri Miettinen. Judging by the reaction in the market, his album is already making its mark:
"A guitar hero in the making, and for many decades to come" - Guitar & Bass magazine.
"At the age of 23, Laurence Jones is now the complete package" - Classic Rock Magazine
Last month, Laurence played at the “Lead Belly Fest” at The Royal Albert Hall alongside numerous high-profile artists from around the world, like Van Morrison, Jools Holland, Eric Burdon, Paul Jones and Walter Trout. This was a very special occasion for all involved, not least for Laurence, when he played on stage with Walter Trout!
If you believe that actions do in fact speak louder than words, then look no further and check out Laurence playing “Thunder In The Sky” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ji3eZRSJJM, a classy blues number. Prefer a rockier riff-driven piece, then have a look and listen to “Can't keep living like this” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sh1ZluqPX6A
The presence of Laurence in Penzance is sure to interest many local people andthose visiting the area and if you could help bring it to their attention, it would be very much appreciated
I have attached some background information on Laurence that I hope you find of interest
If you would like to interview Laurencebefore he comes to town, please let me know.
I look forward to hearing from you
Regards
John

Huge fans of eighties B-movie horrors, the kind that are so bad theyre good, Autopsy Boys formed after seeing Troma Movies' Surf Nazis Must Die. Researching the equipment used on the original sound track, the band bought what they could within their budget and started making music. Within three months, Autopsy Boys had a handful of songs and motivated by some encouraging words from the members of their favourite band The Dwarves, they left their jobs and enrolled on intensive music courses to gain entry into Leeds Music College. A very small following gained from the music Autopsy Boys had placed online led to an appearance at music festival in Leeds where their hardcore punk combined with synths and samples was a huge hit with the audience. The band were approached by a local record label but decided to self-release their debut single, wondering why they should hire a studio when they could build one instead. They dug a cellar under the living room of vocalist Lee's house, kitted it out and set to work on their first seven inch 'Rich Kids Playground'. The hugely positive reviews generated by their debut single and subsequent album 'Def Elements' meant Autopsy Boys soon gained an army of fans. Horror afficiandos loved where the band were coming from lyrically and visually whilst others simply enjoyed their original sound and fresh approach to music. An episode of the Simpsons called 21 tales from Springfield inspired Autopsy Boys' second album with twenty-one songs and five singles, all featuring their favorite Canadian scream queen Debbie Rochon who is a big fan of the band. Iconic horror filmmakers Troma will be endorsing and distributing the band's music videos; a series depicting twenty-four hours of suburban anarchy. 'Song For Debbera' will be a bonus feature on Debbie Rochons latest movie and the band will feature on VHS Massacre, a documentary about the decline of video nasties and physical media. 2014 saw the band headline the new band stage at Rebellion music festival, this year they were invited to play the main stage. So far, Autopsy Boys have shared the stage with bands such as The Dwarves, Boomtown Rats, The Dickies, Evil Blizzard, DOA, The Buzzcocks, God Damn and Heck. The band have a short European tour planned in October. Social Links: www.autopsyboys.com www.facebook.com/autopsyboys www.twitter.com/autopsyboys www.youtube.com/autopsyboys Live Dates:
