Jonteknik – Giants Under The Microscope (download version)

Release date: 19th March 2013

Where: iTunes, Amazon, Spotify and all good download stores.

Jonteknik returns with a new collection of electronic tracks for your listening pleasure. Having released a promo CD of ‘Giants under the microscope’ last year as well as an e.p entitled ‘Orientation’, it was felt the time was right to release an expanded version of the album combining the best of the two releases.

Jonteknik has recently officially remixed the new single ‘Metroland’ by synth pioneers Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark. This was a return to the Paul Humphreys (of OMD) link as Jonteknik co-wrote, programmed and co-produced some of the material by ‘Onetwo’ (also featuring Claudia Brücken) a few years ago, including programming duties on ‘Cloud 9’ which features Depeche Mode’s Martin Gore on guitar.

Detroit-based sound engineer and producer Dave Stawecki has beautifully mastered ‘Giants under the microscope’.

James John Turner

is a singer-songwriter with a lot of history in his home town of Liverpool. The city's diverse musical melting pot was a heady influence on James, who started playing guitar and singing from a ridiculously young age and unbelievably played gigs at the Liverpool Cavern (the Junior Cavern sessions) from the tender age of 9. After leaving school, James began working at Liverpool docks, but he continued to throw himself into his music, and played most evenings and weekends in the city.

After quitting his day job James fronted several different line-ups including Lies all Lies, playing a rock'n'roll-meets-new-wave guitar style music; hanging around in the legendary Eric’s Club. Later he fronted The Electric Morning and released records on the Liverpool indie label Probe Records. But not wanting to just be a local band, the Electric Morning toured with American bands such as the Rain Parade, True West, and The Long Riders, playing all around the UK and Europe. Both John Peel and Andy Kershaw played the Electric Morning records enthusiastically. James quickly attracted the interest of the UK music media. Kev Sampson in Melody Maker said "it's the singer that makes this lot special, with a manic stage presence and a huge Bono style voice". After paying his dues on the road James decided to open a studio, which turned out to be the renowned Liverpool Hard City Studios. It was in Hard City that James recorded his debut solo album: The Believer that was finished and mastered the album in the world famous Abbey Road Studios.

The Believer was released to massively positive critical acclaim, and singles released from the album garnered extensive national and European radio playlisting. Such was the interest generated that the album was selected by Virgin/BPI for their Best of British US Campaign, which distributed The Believer in Virgin shops throughout North America. James was the only male singer/songwriter selected for this campaign, and the response was immense with all copies selling out.

James released his new album “How Could We Be Wrong?" in 2012. For this album James went back to his roots, using acoustic guitars, mandolin and violin, as well as a rhythm section and featuring Henry Priestman on accordion, Mark Knight the “Mad Fiddler” on violin, Etienne Girard on bass, Paul Walsham on drums and Vicky Mutch on cello. There has been great critical acclaim for this album, here are a few excerpts from the many great reviews:

“James J Turner is a superb talent; a strong mature musician, with a great sound.” Classic Rock Society Magazine

“How Could We Be Wrong? is probably the very best folk rock record of 2012. A must listen release, an album which quite simply puts others into the shade. So organic sounding it’s like it’s been lived and breathed into existence”. Ringmaster Review

“Rating: 5/5 …. How Could We Be Wrong? really is one of the best folk sounding albums that I have heard so far in 2012 … Turner has a rich and hypnotic sound to his voice … he is a great song-writer ….the album is right on every single level and I can’t wait to see what he does next.” MALEXTRA / FEMALE FIRST Celebrity Magazines

“How Could We Be Wrong? is so right on every level …. this is music that makes it’s mark – hard and deep …. Potent lyrics, a rich powerful voice, timeless acoustic rock-tinged folk … played live could easily attain anthemic status” Tim Carroll, Folkwords

“Passionate … Mike Scott with a baseball bat … Turner delivers with an honesty and commitment” Steve Caseman, R2 Magazine

“Tremendous, strident vocals … music with oomph but also integrity” Pete Fyfe, Maverick Magazine .

“… driving rock rhythms combined effortlessly with a Irish folky feel … James’s passionate vocals convey the down to earth authenticity and simple wisdom his lyrics bring ... memorable melodic lines. ” Janet Roe, Folking.com

“it’s all quite irresistible, so How Could Anyone fail to warm to James’s music?” David Kidman, Folk and Roots Magazine

“The real greatness of ‘How Could We Be Wrong’ is that it is one of those albums that crosses generations of music. This is an album that will never sound dated.” Steve Tay, A Musical Priority Magazine

“Emerald’s carefree sense of fun is, ultimately, disarming” – The Independent
On February 25th Caro Emerald will be releasing ‘Tangled Up’, the first single from her long awaited second album ‘The Shocking Miss Emerald’. ‘Tangled Up’ will have its world premiere play on national radio in Caro’s native Holland on February 18th.
A hooky, hip-hop tango, ‘Tangled Up’ is stylish, classy and sassy pop - Caro’s trademark - and is a delicious appetiser for the new album. Where ‘Deleted Scenes From The Cutting Room Floor’ took its inspiration from the Hollywood cinema and the glitz and glamour of the jazz scene, ‘The Shocking Miss Emerald’ is inspired by the epicentre of style, romance, excitement and dangerous liaisons – Paris.
‘Tangled Up’ is written by Vince Degiorgio, David Schreurs and Guy Chambers, with production by Caro's steady production team of Schreurs and Jan van Wieringen, and features the renowned bandoneonist Carel Kraayenhof.
Smouldering, charismatic and with an appealingly aesthetic eye for presentation, Caro Emerald is a truly original pop star. ‘Deleted Scenes From The Cutting Room Floor’, so joyful and overflowing with retro-loveliness, sold more than 1.3 million copies across Europe, dominated the charts for 30 weeks in Holland, and in Britain spent nine weeks in the top 10 and was certified platinum. Caro performed on UK TV shows including Jools Holland’s Hootenanny, Strictly Come Dancing and BBC’s Children In Need and her music became a permanent fixture on the airwaves with Radio 2 adding all five singles to the A List and making the record Album Of The Week. Caro’s live performances included an astonishing set in London’s Hyde Park and at the Isle of Wight Festival and her sold out headline UK tour garnered rave reviews.
“Dutch sensation Caro channels the slinky, sexy vibe of jazz and salsa clubs in days gone by…” "A cross between Lily Allen and Jessica Rabbit this is sassy stuff. Don't miss out! Retro loveliness" - *****– Star magazine
Caro has also dominated the German music scene, and recently picked up the prestigious Golden Camera Award for ‘Best International Music Artist’, the ‘International Newcomer Award’ at the Echo Awards and was nominated for the Swiss Music Award ‘Best Breaking Act International’. More recently, America has discovered Caro and in January she played sold out shows in Los Angeles and New York to great acclaim. Her live performance is not to be missed - reviewing the show at The Roundhouse, The Times declared the atmosphere to be “part carnival, part high-school prom”, praising her “magnificent vocals” and concluding that “When she finally bounced off stage, punching the air, it felt like a whirlwind had hit North London.”
In March Caro will be in the UK for three shows. Her shows in Brighton (March 8th) and Bournemouth (March 9th) are completely sold out with just a few tickets left for her Royal Albert Hall debut on March 11th. “Britain has always been so extremely supportive! Coming back again is something I'm so looking forward to. It feels heart-warming and super exciting at the same time to play again for the UK crowd, especially in these legendary venues. The Royal Albert Hall is a dream come true, I still have to pinch myself when I come to think about it.”

Blue - 'Hurt Lovers' is out on the 21st April 2013!
'Hurt Lovers' has already reached number 7 in the German singles chart.
Blueworld (UK) LLP brought to you by Absolute via Universal

Older, wiser, stronger….. Thirteen years on from the day they came together and Blue are on top form, possibly at their best. Accomplished singer songwriters, star performers and still very easy on the eye, the boys have stepped gracefully into manhood with charisma, style, charm and camaraderie. With just over a decade of experience, Blue know their game and how to play it well.
Lee Ryan, Antony Costa, Duncan James and Simon Webbe are one of the few boy bands to come out of the 90’s who can lay claim to a bond that’s as solid now as it was then. They’ve endured the ups and downs of critical acclaim, flown high at the top of the charts, bared their souls in the tabloids, made the mistakes we’ve all made and throughout it all their relationship has stayed firm and true.
A frisson of excitement is rippling through their camp as the now grown up Blue, are due to release their first studio album in over a decade. Building Bridges, taking a stand and never letting go….the boys are about to make things right again with their first single from the album, ‘Hurt Lovers’, due for release on 21st April and available for pre order on itunes from Thursday 14th March.
An epic ballad, that resonates with heart break, beautiful harmonies and a thematic melody, ‘Hurt Lovers’ leaves the listener in no doubt of this bands awesome vocal talent, accomplished production and a gloriously euphoric sense of moving on into a new era.
Blue are one of the most successful British acts of the last decade. The band have sold more than 15 million albums worldwide, with all three of the band’s previous studio albums having reached the #1 slot. Blue have also toured virtually every country in the world and performed live with the likes of Sir Elton John and Stevie Wonder. They will be performing live at an almost sold out, exclusive 02 Shepherds Bush Empire gig on Friday 3rd May. Tickets available viawww.ticketmaster.com / www.officalblue.com

King Canute
A rock band you can dance to!
There’s a fire in the belly of singing bassist Jon “JC” Lett, whose visceral lyrics and punk vocal stylings are bathed in sing-a-long melodies that you will be humming for weeks. Backed by the relentless drumming powerhouse that Jack “Gump” Summerfield brings to the duo, you’ll be hard pushed not to be bowled over by the fist pumping anthems that these two provide.
“There’s an honesty and intensity to these songs, hidden behind the power of the amps and those drum hits.” says Jon. “I believe you can be more honest through the music than anything you can express in worlds alone.”
“The songs may sound very negative and angry in their lyrical content, but actually they are relentlessly optimistic” adds Jack. “It was important to us to stay true to the heart of the song, while keeping it catchy enough that we were actually singing in in our sleep.”
King Canute are set to release their debut double A-sided single featuring the catchy as hell “Necessary Evil”, an anthemic ode to drug addiction, and “Live Like We’re Dead” the raunchy fist-pumping epic.
The duo, from Guildford, are now stunning critics across the board to prove that two, in fact is the magic number...
Available through In At The Eye Records from February 25th 2013, via iTunes, Amazon, 7 Digital, Spotify and all other digital retailers.
Live dates:
March 9th - The O2 Academy, Birmingham
March 28th - The Cave, The Holly Tree, Kingston upon Thames

Tenek
It's Another Day... and tenek's ...got something to say...
Available from Monday 11th of March, to coincide with their tour with Republica (*see website for details -> http://www.tenek.info/). ‘Another Day’ EP brings us brand new material from tenek for 2013!! Available on CD and download from all popular online stores.
It features the title track "Another Day (Radio Edit)", along with an alternate version for the dance-floor remixed by Airwolf One / aka Alberto Trevisan), both tracks immediately grab the attention of the listener!
Then there's the epic "A New Foundation”, which offers a darker and perhaps more mature sound for tenek. Besides all this there is a bonus, remixed 2013 version of one of their most popular tracks, "Elusive", originally from their "EP2" release in 2011. All of these serve to remind us of how great tenek's song writing continues to push new creative envelopes, as well as their thirst to try new ideas as their musical career expands into new directions.
Sept 2007 saw tenek release their first EP, and since then, with each new recording the band continued to grow both musically and in the live arena where they have gained a substantial worldwide fan-base. ‘Another Day’ is another brilliant example of how tenek can create a new vibe with their music, yet manage to retain the core tenek sound that everyone has grown to love.
‘Another Day’ EP offers a mere tease of what is to come from tenek's forthcoming 3rd album!!
Come and see them live on the Republica (UK) tour this March 2013 and in October on the De/Vision “25 Years Best Of Tour 2013” (Germany).

Republica

Released April 1st 2013
Republica dominated the charts in the Nineties and are exploding back into 2013 with a new EP, UK tour and festival slots. The band's iconic and fiery frontwoman, Saffron, Tim Dorney (keyboard), Johnny Male (guitar) and Conor Lawrence (drums) rode the Britpop wave of female-fronted rock bands like Sleeper, Elastica, Garbage and Lush, injecting it with their self-dubbed "techno-pop, punk rock" sound.
Between 1996 and 1999, Republica sold an incredible 3 million albums and clinched Top 5 slots in the UK, America and Europe with platinum sales across the globe, while their hit single Ready to Go soared to Number One in 18 countries. And the band is returning to the scene with the release of their eagerly-awaited single and EP in March, which will be supported by a UK tour across the following venues:
- Thursday 14 March: Garage, London
- Friday 15 March: Fibbers, York
- Saturday 16 March: Forum, Tunbridge Wells
- Monday 18 March: Newcastle O2 Academy
- Tuesday 19 March: Brudenell Social Club, Leeds
- Wednesday 20 March: Glasgow Classic Grand
- Thursday 21 March: Nottingham Bodega
- Friday 22 March: Bristol Thekla
- Saturday 23 March: Winchester
Their new material is a welcome return to the gritty, electronica sound which set them apart from fellow Britpop titans, as Saffron explains: "It's been brilliant being back in the studio together with the boys. After touring for years and having side projects and collaborations, it felt really fresh working and recording together again. We all headed to a house in Cornwall, taking the equipment with us and set up a studio. We dug out lots of old keyboards we've collected over the years - even an old analogue modular one that Tim made himself. The first release, 'Christiana Obey' was written with our producer Andy Gray. We've recorded some great new tracks and we're really excited about going out live to perform them. It's all NEW, NEW, NEW!"
Republica will be joining acts including Bon Jovi and The Stone Roses with a slot at The Isle of Wight in June, to share the well-loved tunes that won the hearts of the nation, as well as this exciting, new material.
