Review - The Quincies -"Change in the tide "

Also on Herald express site

After years of promise and fluctuating live gigs ,The Quincies , a band of equals,  captures the spirit of what a band is about artistically in 2015 on their five track record "Change in the tide "

It's a record that has something to say about an ideal for living " Sleeping on Buses " emerged last year in demo format , whist lead off single "Lost in a Lifetime " sighted a possible tone .
But going through the looking glass to hear their fantastical tales of the artful poetic day to day  from their own uplifting  sanctions is nothing less than joyous.

Stand out moments include the opener " Holding Steady " with a fleet footed verse that drags you in for the entirety of the record and "Sonic Youth "
where raw emotions  run riot delivering a beautifully ragged musical gumbo of soul, rock and psychedelia that can't help but touch nerves .Making the band sound at their most virile in terms of sound and lyrics .

This is a record of established  grooves and spiky riffs , aligned with their strongest melodies yet . They seem to have filtered  their anxieties on time's passing into an astounding record.for a certain generation of listeners not  contained by genres  but who have a  hint of nostalgia in looking back to move forward.
It may have took them a while but it's been worth every second we have had to wait.

Out on 7 September , launch gig on September 5 at  The Apple & Parrot Torquay

The Jake Green Band is one of the most promising names on the Danish blues scene. In a music genre that is both strongly traditional and a bit hide-bound in style, sometimes this band shows there's still a kick to blues rock. They aim to break the boundaries without smashing them.

The Jake Green Band style is a mix of powerful blues rock, heavy shuffles and heart-wrenching slow-blues you can feel deep in your soul.

These are skilful, experienced people who are passionate about what they do. It has power from that passion, and they work hard, sweat more, and draw the audience into the feel of the music. This dedication has landed the Jake Green Band some very high-profile gigs such as steady monthly weekend gigs at Mojo Blues Bar in Copenhagen and repeated invitations to play the blues tent at the Malmo Festival in Sweden. Both are highly sought after, and not something you land unless you bring something special to the table.

Now it's time to turn it up a notch with their new album recorded live at the Malmo Festival this past summer, it is time to get out on the road again and do what they do best; make the audience feel the blues deep down.

It is no secret that Jake Green Band are looking to play abroad more in the near future, expanding on their existing international goodwill on the blues circuits.

The guitarist and singer Jake Green has played with just about everyone on the Danish blues scene, not least because he's been a steady host at the legendary, 17-year-old, Thursday nightblues jam at Mojos for the past years. Jake has also taken several trips to places around the world to get some "mileage" and road experience on the foreign stages of Austin, NY, London, Thailand and Spain. He has reaped nothing but positive experience and has returned with more finely honed skills every time.

Drummer Hans Rosenberg has recorded over 140 albums and played all over the world with countless big name acts including Nanook, Poul Dissing, Ole Frimer, Uffe Steen and Rasmus Lyberth Band.

Bass player Jens Simonsen is a long time music industry road warrior with countless bands and records to his name, both as a musician but also as a studio tech and producer.

The combination of this rock steady backing is the brick wall upon which Jake Green gets to shine.

The journey has only just begun. Be a part of it……

BRITISH HARD ROCKERS RETURN WITH NEW EP ON 12TH OCTOBER / NEW LYRIC VIDEO 'HYPNOTISE' OUT NOW

Following the release of 2013's critically acclaimed debut album 'The Rise Of Jimmy Silver' and last years UK/European tour with rock legends Y&T; Bournemouth hard rock 5 piece VOODOO VEGAS have confirmed they will release their new EP 'Hypnotise' on 12th October 2015.

The new EP features 4 tracks of pumped up, high voltage rock n' roll that will please anyone that's a fan of hard rock music. Laying down a foundation of essential classic rock, Voodoo Vegas have stripped away their sound and put the pieces back together to create a collection of music that is modern, fresh and demands it be turned up, LOUD!

Frontman Lawrence Case picks up the story "Since the release of our first album, we've been focusing on touring, playing live and writing new material. When you tour with bands like Y&T and Status Quo, the pure class and calibre of these guys is unmistakable. Watching those bands play live out front and by side stage, it was obvious we were going to learn so much, not only to benefit our live show but also our perception on crafting the next chapter of Voodoo Vegas."

So why an EP, why not the second album now? Case coolly replies "We're living in an age where music comes and goes in a blink of an eye. Our focus was always going to be on raising our game via the live shows and I think by doing this EP now it allows us the flexibility of continuing to extend our reach out to live audiences in sync with this release. The second album is in the works but we felt we needed to bridge that gap firstly and this EP is a very good indicator of where Voodoo Vegas are going. Essentially this a prelude as to what happens next but doesn't give the game away.

Opening title track 'Hypnotise' is unmistakably Voodoo Vegas but with a twist, the song blisters along with effortless groove, hard driven guitars and hooks aplenty. 'Tied Up' maintains the pace but steps things up and showcases Voodoo Vegas as the true contenders they are. 'Round & Round' mixes things up with dueling guitars, bass breakdowns and a live 'jam' feel midway whilst 'Killing Joke' cements the EP together and will surely become a live favourite in the band's set list.

The EP 'Hypnotise' was produced by Will Maya (The Answer, Breed 77) and recorded at Los Rosales Residential Studio in Madrid.Working with Will on this project really helped us bring the new songs to life. The guys is a consummate musician and producer and has a great eye for detail. We learnt a lot working with him. The fact that it was off the back of his work with The Answer (their latest album 'Raise A Little Hell' which broke into the UK's National Top 20 and hit No.1 on the Rock Chart) really spurred all of us on. As a band, right now we've never been stronger. It's an exciting time for Voodoo Vegas.

With the EP's cover art once again drawn by noted comic book artist Jim Boswell, 'Jimmy Silver' makes his return but this time he's not the city smashing giant as seen on Voodoo Vegas's debut album. As the title track suggests, something's afoot and just who is the mysterious lady luring Jimmy in with her charms?

All will be revealed over the coming months as Case explains "We wanted Jimmy Silver back but this time we wanted a twist, a backstory which you'll find running across not just the EP but on the second album. There's a lot going on behind the scenes with this and we can't wait to get the ball rolling!"

'Hypnotise' is released 12th October 2015 - pre order via iTunes now and get 'Hypnotise' single instantly:

Iceland - Italy trio My Cruel Goro set to release eponymous debut EP

FOR LOVERS OF: Ash, Arctic Monkeys, The Fratellis, The Hives and early LIbertines, Dinosaur Jr., Weezer

"A terrific Janus-faced creature, with strong elements of celebrated 70s bands such as The Clash, The Stranglers, The Jam, and The Vapors on the one hand and, on the other, the raw pounding modernity as Ash, Arctic Monkeys and even Weezer"  The Sound of Confusion

"A fast-paced, knock-out EP... bursting with noisy, riff-laden, alternative-rock tracks that will make even the most reluctant fan start throwing themselves around like an angst-ridden teenager"  Gigslutz

"Young sonic spunk, full of vigour in the best punk-driven rock-o-rama way possible. These guys know how to create a beautiful ruckus"  Overblown Magazine

"While 70s bands may not number among their influences, their music is reeling with the raw energy and stylings of this period. No straightforward 'sounds likes' comparisons, but the Stranglers and early Clash come close to mind"  The Record Stache

"Immediate and in-yer face Italian neo-punk!! Somewhere between Ned's Atomic Dustbin, Early Dinosaur Jr. and the Fratellis. Very Exciting"  Producer Marc Joy (Mike Peters, Bernard Butler, Lights That Change, Golden Fable)

Hailing from Italy and currently based between there and Reykjavík, Iceland, three-piece My Cruel Goropresent their debut eponymous EP, featuring 3 tracks chalked full of early 70s energetic Brit rock with punk leanings, yet through the prism of a thick modern soundbed. It's no wonder they are getting so much attention from the national press in Italy and that bloggers have referenced such paramount artists as The Clash, The Stranglers, The Jam, Ash, The Fratellis, Arctic Monkeys and Weezer.

My Cruel Goro is Andrea Maraschi (vocals, guitar, programming), Andrea Marcellini (bass) and Tommaso Adanti (drums). The first two met nine years ago through a mutual friend and have been making music together ever since. My Cruel Goro arose from the ashes of their previous project. "We couldn't find reliable musicians to form a proper group with a stable lineup. Everytime it ended up being the two of us: Andrea and I," explains Andrea Marcellini. "We were joined by drummer Tommaso and formed the band in 2014".

"We wanted the EP to sound as powerful and raw as our live concerts. We simply tried to leverage what we did best: energy, distortion, grit and a sprinkling of electronics if necessary," says Andrea Maraschi. "You may either like or dislike it, but it's flesh and bones, and that's what you want to see on the stage, isn't it? The inner imperfection and veracity of being human."

These same concepts have been interwoven into their music videos, all of which are produced by Massimo Scoposki and are being revealed one by one. The video for 'Crapford' is premiering in The Sound of Confusion and the video for 'Glue Buzz' is premiering in The Record Stache.

The My Cruel Goro EP will be available on Bandcamp as a free download. The video for 'Clash' will also be released soon.

"All tracks are superb and bring to mind a whole whack of comparable bands - all of them great. We leave you with 4 words: potent virile raw sound"  Jammerzine

"Comes with punk spirit, noise digressions and post-rock intros. You like your music a little dirty, fast and loud? Get groped by My Cruel Goro'   Osservatori Esterni

"A whirling, hypnotic and fast-paced journey"  With Guitars

FOREVR

15 July 2015
Australia's FOREVR Releases Sexy Shoegaze Debut EP 'Demonstration'

"Perfect shoegaze. Takes you somewhere amazing without being obvious about it" - Nat Tencic, Triple J Radio

"FOREVR does a really good job at making shoegaze sexy" Rotunda Media

"Didnt take long for me to fall in love with their music. Their future looks very bright, as it does for the whole Brisbane shoegaze scene"This Is That Song

"FOREVR will be known as one of the emerging modern shoegaze bands very soon" The Revue

FOR LOVERS OF: Warpaint, My Bloody Valentine, Cocteau Twins, Medicine, GEMS, Rev Rev Rev, Strata Florida, Jaguwar, Sounds of Sputnik

Brisbane shoegaze duo FOREVR has released their debut EP after recording it in April of this year. FOREVR is made up of Donovan Miller (No Anchor, Roku Music) and Sam George-Allen (Mega Ogre, Low Season), who writes fiction and non-fiction about desire, sex work, family, beauty and witches when she's not making music.

Demonstration is their first recorded material. The four-track EP was recorded live at Tym Guitars in Brisbane, using programmed drums, dense synthesiser and cavernous, shimmering guitar. They wanted to make loud, beautiful music. Demonstration is what happened.

Channelling the lush textures of My Bloody Valentine and the romance of the Cocteau Twins, FOREVR have adopted an electronic foundation - drum machines, audio sampling and synth bass - that places them at the forefront of modern shoegaze. Demonstration has received praise from music press in Australia and abroad, including Triple J and international radio stations Primal Radio and DKFM. Triple Js Nat Tencic calls their music perfect shoegaze and Primal Radio describes their sound as sinister decadence.

Demonstration is evocative, textural, beautiful and best played loud. The EP is available as a name-your-price download and on black CD, and has just been released as a limited edition gold cassette tape. A full length album is currently in production.

"Beautiful and wonderful and noisy thing" - Dave Ruby Howe, Triple J Radio

"Sinister decadence. A great example of the modern shoegaze sound" - Primal Music

"The pair have crafted some amazing songs to get us drooling for a full length"
 - Sounds Better With Reverb

"Expeditions in fuzz-soaked abandon. An air of ethereal distance, a Syren held aloft, out of touch, much desired" Brendan Telford, Sonic Masala

Laurence Jones, a stunning guitarist who has been described as "Blues Rocks youngest Talent in the UK"

The great news for blues-rock fanslive music lovers and aspiring musicians in and around Penzance, is that Laurence will be playing with his band at The Acorn on Saturday 19 September and put simply; this will be a great night and one show not to miss!

Laurence was voted "Young Artist of the Year," in the British Blues Awards 2014 and in the same year, won the first UK Blues Challenge, which saw him going on to represent the UK at the 5th European Blues Challenge that took place in Brussels in March 2015

Well before the release of his debut album in 2012 "Thunder In The Sky", a buzz rapidly built around Laurence and he soon began making a big name for himself...............BBC Radio 2 was sufficiently impressed to state that "Laurence is like a young Robin Trower, exciting and full of energy"

The young gunslinger of the blues was influenced by the likes of Walter Trout, Eric Clapton, Gary Moore, Rory Gallagher and Albert Collins.  At only 23, he has clocked up some serious road miles touring throughout the U.K/Europe and in 2013, Walter Trout invited Laurence and his band to play as support on their U.K tour and said "Laurence is a cross between Eric Clapton & Buddy Guy, he is a genius"

In April, Laurence released his third album ‘What’s it Gonna Be’ with Ruf Records, featuring guests "Sandi Thom" and "Dana Fuchs".  Recorded at headline music studio in Cambridge, Laurence co produced the album with Roger Album and wanted to use his own band Roger Inniss and Miri Miettinen.  Judging by the reaction in the market, his album is already making its mark:

"A guitar hero in the making, and for many decades to come" - Guitar & Bass magazine.

"At the age of 23, Laurence Jones is now the complete package" - Classic Rock Magazine

Last month, Laurence played at the “Lead Belly Fest” at The Royal Albert Hall alongside numerous high-profile artists from around the world, like Van Morrison, Jools Holland, Eric Burdon, Paul Jones and Walter Trout This was a very special occasion for all involved, not least for Laurence, when he played on stage with Walter Trout!

If you believe that actions do in fact speak louder than words, then look no further and check out Laurence playing “Thunder In The Sky” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ji3eZRSJJM, a classy blues number.  Prefer a rockier riff-driven piece, then have a look and listen to “Can't keep living like this” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sh1ZluqPX6A

The presence of Laurence in Penzance is sure to interest many local people andthose visiting the area and if you could help bring it to their attention, it would be very much appreciated

I have attached some background information on Laurence that I hope you find of interest

If you would like to interview Laurencebefore he comes to town, please let me know.

I look forward to hearing from you

Regards

John

Lola in Slacks perform with very special guest Roy Moller - Single Release Soirée- CCA, Glasgow, Friday 28th August. Tickets available here

Fronted by spellbinding chanteuse Lou Reid, Lola in Slacks exude the sexy garage swagger of the Velvet Underground spiked with the bold confidence and freedom of Tim Buckley. There's an acute sense of mystery around this ambitious, literate gang of Francophile bohemians, who have made an instant impact with a series of heart-stopping performances around their home town of Glasgow.

Having developed her distinctive vocal and performance style busking on the streets of Paris as a raw 19 year-old, Lou Reid casts a powerful glamour. A classic torch singer for the modern age, Reid brings a Piaf-like authority to the group’s Noir atmospherics and superior song-writing. Radiating an effortless cool, the singer evokes comparisons with Marianne Faithfull, Nick Cave and Jacques Brel in the songs she co-writes with guitarist Brian McFie. Inspired by the exhilarating Stooges guitarist James Williamson and the great soul player Teenie Hodges, McFie is equally adept at garage grind and spiralling melody.

Lesley McLaren has an established reputation as a great rock & roll drummer in her own right, while bassist Davy Irvin supplies a weighty undertow with the taste and precision of ‘Wrecking Crew’ legend Carol Kaye. Martin Stuart Taggart broadens out the band’s wide-screen sound with edgy, creative guitar, while Villy Karagouni is the group’s secret weapon, a classically-trained pianist who adds a whole new dimension to the band’s sensual fusillade.

Debut single ‘Tramlines’ is released on August 31st on Stereogram Recordings. 'Tramlines' draws the listener into a dramatic world of dark, shimmering beauty, illuminated by tantalising shafts of sunlight. Reid's gift for imagery is readily apparent as she conjures sepia-tinged scenes wrenched from buried memories. An instantly addictive entry into Lola in Slacks’s bohemian netherworld, ‘Tramlines’ was recorded with award-winning producer Sandy Jones at Foundry Music Lab in Motherwell.

This is no average group. They understand that sometimes you have to pay for love with bitter tears. When Lou Reid sings, it's a way of escaping, it's another world; she's no longer on Earth. Intimate and imperious in equal measure, Lola in Slacks are poised to become everyone's new favourite band.

“Possessing a diffident grace, ‘Tramlines’ is an elegiac triumph” Nina Antonia, celebrated underground rock & roll writer and biographer of Johnny Thunders, New York Dolls and Peter Perrett.

“’Tramlines’ is a stunning debut single…Lola in Slacks are the most original group I’ve heard in years. With its perfect blend of pop hooks and underground allure, ‘Tramlines’ deserves to be a massive hit.” Billy Sloan, legendary Glasgow music journalist and broadcaster.

“Reminds me of a less ravaged Marianne Faithfull, circa ‘Broken English’. Lovely atmospheric sense of place and yearning.” Tom Morton, broadcaster and journalist.

“I really like this track, kinda like Marianne Faithfull fronting the Velvets.” Douglas MacIntyre, Head of The Creeping Bent Organisation record label and bass-player with The Sexual Objects.

“’Tramlines’ is a song full of so much wistful longing that it hurts. The evocative lyrics paint a vivid picture and the smoky vocals of chanteuse Lou Reid have just the right hint of attitude masking a world weary sadness. Dark, intriguing and totally intoxicating.”  Avril Cadden, freelance writer (formerly music features writer at Sunday Mail/Daily Record).

Lowell ft. Icona Pop ‘Ride’

Streaming Date: 21st August

Impact Date: 16th October

Available on August 21st, ‘Ride’ will be released through Interland Music / Sony Red. The track is an emphatic feminist pop anthem about rebellion and empowerment, whilst remaining youthful and carefree.

The track pays homage to the Van Buren sisters and their iconic motorcycle road trip across the US in 1916. As the first women to cross the US by motorcycle alone, the Van Buren sisters’ trek was as much a political statement as an act of gender defiance.

Acting as part of The Preparedness Movement, Gussie and Addie (22 and 24) used the trip to prove that women could ride just as well as their male counterparts, and subsequently were granted permission to serve as dispatch riders during World War 1.

A classically trained musician who also suffers from a rare neurological condition known as synesthesia, Lowell released her debut album, ‘We Loved Her Dearly’, earlier this year impressing fans and critics alike with her bold blend of pop.

“A technicolour slice of playful, experimental pop in the vein of Santigold, Toronto musician Lowell’s debut is one of the month’s most exuberant.” – NME

"Canadian pop songstress who writes hits like one makes tea – effortlessly and often" – i-D

“Childlike wonder” – The Observer

“Finest Electropop” – Evening Standard

“Bold, celebratory electro pop packed with attitude” – The Independent

"We Loved Her Dearly – a "completely autobiographical" 12-song set packed with irresistible pop hooks, dreamy synth textures and pointed feminist commentary." - Rolling Stone

"Lowell makes user-friendly, irresistible pop music from an expressly feminist perspective, and she wields many tools to do it. If she's rebellious, then she's the world's first freedom fighter to come armed with pom-poms." – NPR Music

Memories of A Fisherman is the thought provoking debut single from music collective, Ticking Tree.  The track is nostalgic, melodious and refreshingly optimistic.  Songwriter Adman was inspired to pen the track by why he describes as, "the fundamental inadequacy of words"; we may feel a very specific, almost tangible emotion, be it joy or pain, but can never completely convey that in words, just as a fisherman can never properly express to others the feeling they experience when they make their "catch of the day".  The song leaves us with the question, "Is impression to be deemed more accurate than reality?"

Ticking Tree is an abundantly talented collective, comprised of musicians with enviable CV's.  The group's guitarist has played with artists including One Direction, The Overtones and Jams Morrisons, and the bassist has played with the likes of Take That, Kwabs and Afrobeat Master Dele Sosimi.  The resulting sound is a polished yet fresh resonance with a sunny sense of hopefulness.   The group was named around the concept of a natural object, the collective themselves, who are ever developing and aspiring to reach their next branch of growth, always with a sense of anticipation , something incredible about to happen.

Recorded and produced at The Power House, Metropolis, London, Memories of A Fisherman due for release on 28th August 2015 on the forthcoming "Butterfly Wings" EP on M:89 Records.

Following the Top 10 dance smashes, star of the stage and screen K-Syran, releases her track, the contemplative and pace "You Don't Love Me Anymore" on 7 August.  Performing at festivals across the UK and Europe, with an album in the pipeline and UK tour planned for later this year, K-Syran is continuing her reign as Norway's "siren of dance".

Norwegian born K-Syran is a singer-songwriter who has received acclaim for her acting achievements on stage and screen, including "Voyage in the Dark" at the Young Vic.  However, her tender vocals always got her noticed and singing in each of her productions.  With a fusion of Classical, pop, rock and jazz and techno influences together to create her distinctly unique sound.  K-Syran nurtured her voice as lead vocalist for a number of groups, but it is as a solo artist that she is enjoying the greatest success.

Her new single, "You Don't Love Me Anymore" conveys a message we can all relate to, when we finally realise that a love, that has truly got under our skin, has become to an end. and all the emotion that we feel at that moment.   The  sadness and reflection  that this evokes are all brought  to bear in the power of the track.  The thought-provoking lyrics are set over a catchy backing, with a building  sense of anticipation, which adds pathos and dynamics.

Running parallel to her catapulting music success, K-Syran has also made considerable waves on the global arts and humanitarian scene.  Earlier this year, she took her own play, "Breaking The Silence' to NewYork.  The play was nominated "Best Play" at the global Summit to End Sexual Violence in Conflict  organised by Angelinia Jolie and William Hague.  K-Syran is also raising much needed awareness for Human Rights Watch through her work.

The New single, "You Don't Love Me Anymore" is released on 7 August on M:89 Records

Get ready to turn this one up LOUD!! Trigga and Chimpo have teamed up to create this absolute BANGER that is already getting support at Beats1, Radio 1 and 1Xtra! SBTV premiered the video and Pigeons & Planes, MTV and The Grime Report have all been getting behind the track too, so you know its something special, plus when JME heard the record he tweeted his love for it straight away https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n4mrq8QVGEI

Released via Toddla T’s ‘Girls Music’ label, the track is a dirty, hard-hitting three strike combination of Grime, Crunk and Dancehall making for something very dark, yet utterly compelling – the essence of the Shadow sound.

Trigga represents everything that makes Manchester, and the UK Underground, famous worldwide. Raised in the streets of Moss Side in the 90’s, Trigga survived those infamous years (although not without some famous scars) and has lived to put a timeless stamp on British dance music from featuring on classic tape packs to performing in legendary raves through to collaborating with the likes of Skepta, Spyda and Flowdance on 'In A Corner' to recent work with Zed Bias. Add Chimpo to the mix and you get a track full of flows, depth and one mucky baseline

Shine

Damien J Brennan was born and raised in County Down, Northern Ireland. He learned to play the guitar and began busking whilst backpacking through Italy and Australia. Shortly after his return home he began songwriting and on a limited budget recorded some garage demos. These initial recordings received positive feedback and a glowing review from critically acclaimed mastering engineer Pete Maher (U2, Snow Patrol, Katy Perry, Hudson Taylor).

Damien recorded his first professional tracks in Zero Hour Studios and these songs led to gigs locally and in London. They were also picked up for radio play on Tom Robinson's BBC Radio 6 show and Baylen Leonard and Aaron Philips on Amazing Radio, together with a number of regional UK stations. Tony Moore of Soho Radio invited Damien to sing live on his show and to appear live at London's Bedford this August.

The future is looking very promising for this up and coming Irish talent.

"Damien is a gifted and super talented singer/songwriter with the potential for great success! Up there with the best!"
Pete Maher, Mastering Engineer for U2, The Killers, Liam Gallagher, The Rolling Stones, Jack White, Scissor Sisters, Depeche Mode and Katy Perry

Lions & Butterflies’

Released 2nd October 2015

Single ‘Walls of Silence’ – available 4th September 2015

Song: https://soundcloud.com/ldpromos/walls-of-silence-radio-edit/s-rdDjs

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e19C7bOO0r0

The highly anticipated new album from the independent alternative folk band follows hot on the heels of their recent wowing of the crowds at Glastonbury, for the fourth consecutive year, and their growing army of fans and admirers will not be disappointed. ‘Lions & Butterflies’ is beautifully written, performed, sung and produced.

The husband and wife duo of Jeremy and Lorraine Millington, from Bristol and Galway respectively have been on a decade long journey that has seen them release 5 previous albums, hone their song-writing style and performances and arrive at this juncture with what many believe, including themselves, to be their masterpiece.

“This is the strongest music I’ve heard from The Portraits to date. It’s always gratifying when musicians you meet and like turn out to make excellent music”

 – Tom Robinson 6 Music

After persuading his parents to invest in a piano for him at the age of 10, Jeremy began a lifelong relationship with the instrument. The son of a diplomat he travelled to destinations all over the world spending his childhood in various parts of AfricaEurope and Asia. The family finally settled in Bristolwhere Jeremy studied music to the highest level and decided to take up a career in teaching. His first posting led him to the Isle of Wight where he met Lorraine……

Lorraine grew up in rural Western Ireland and was drawn to the guitar at a very young age, teaching herself and performing traditional Irish songs at family events and pubs. She went on to study Fine Art at the University of Ulster in Belfast, during the worst of Northern Ireland’s struggles when police helicopters roared overhead and taxi drivers were murdered outside her bedroom window. After completing her degree she took up her first job as a teacher.

“A wonderful band” – Lembit Opik

And so this dynamic pairing came together. Inspired by his travels throughout the world and her personal experiences of the tragedies of war they formed a partnership both in love and in music that would prove formidable. Setting up home in France they would write together in their farmhouse, planning their future and performing in the café’s and parks of the region. As their reputation and crowds grew, the sudden death of Jeremy’s father and the birth of their two children led the couple back across the Channel to London where they were to take the music scene by storm.

“This new album is a heartfelt musical snapshot of who we are”

Lorraine

They have amassed a loyal fan base by performing at festivals and venues across EnglandIreland and France, winning new fans wherever they travel with their clever, melodic music, both memorable and personal. These songs are about real people, real situations, and real life.
