John Ramon

‘Halcyon Days'

Impact Date: 18/12/2015

Listen to ‘Halcyon Days'

Somerset based act John Ramon is about to release his incredible new album ‘Halcyon Days', with the title track also being released as the official single this December.

Having travelled all over Europe with his music, John had taken in some amazing countries and some unusual venues , John cites busking in Istanbul as one of his most memorable experiences.

"Busking in Istanbul whilst they were under military rule was a bit hairy, as I had a bayonet pointed at me for causing a disturbance because a crowd of about 50 Turkish kids congregated singing Beatles songs with me."

His studio work has seen him embrace some of the greats and this association with hardened professions is clearly evident on his new offing.

His album features some incredible musicians, including Russell Field (Midge Ure's drummer), Brad Lang (ABC album and Robbie Williams Sing When You're Winning), and the amazing Nick Holland (M D for Barbara Dixton and Troy Donockly).

Mickey Lightfoot out 16th Dec:

Watch the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-jzez3iv4V4&feature=youtu.be

Ashanti Bitxh’ is the first of a new wave of work from Mickey Lightfoot which smartly addresses the issues around female derogatory terms. It tackles the turbulence of the modern day relationship, in which in one breath you'll proclaim you love your partner and in the same breath, possibly out of complicit ignorance, you verbally abuse them.

The video is collaboratively shot with recent Warp Records signee, director and musician Giaka. The resulting footage is great fun but also deeply poignant. The instrumental version has already been play listed on MTV with Tieks.

Savage Playground who are based in Canada.

Ladies and gentlemen we are delighted to introduce you to Go Primitive, a four piece alternative rock band from Warwickshire UK. The band released their brand new EP 100 Ways  this summer to rave reviews and regular BBC Introducing play. The stunning EP was produced by Romesh Dodangoda (Funeral For A Friend, The Blackout, Kids In Glass Houses)

While individually submerged somewhere in the underground rock scene, they found each other through sharing the same passion, drive and commitment to music. With an energetic live performance, they endeavour to make every single person feel like they are a part of the show.
With the focus remaining on the song itself, the band combine big riffs, powerful grooves, catchy vocal lines and sing along choruses. The result is a melodic style of rock with plenty of attitude.

Chosen to support Mallory Knox, We Are The Ocean, The Subways, Lonely The Brave, Hawthorne Heights, and Yashin, Go Primitive are hungry for more.

Odds Are Stacked', the dramatic debut single by Campbell L Sangster, is a track that immediately feels oddly familiar but proves impossible to pin down. It has the feel of an ancient folk song given an electric mauling in a beat cellar and then hauled into a studio, taken apart and reassembled with stirring strings to create an eerie atmosphere. The songs sparse arrangement allows Campbells remarkable voice to shine.  The tone husky and the mood is determined: character and fervour triumph over the inert and impassive.

Campbell L. Sangster is the new musical identity of the London-based singer/songwriter Lin Sangster who has one of the most distinctive voices in pop music and a winning way with melodies. Sangster's work on soundtracks for film and video projects has clearly influenced this hugely cinematic single.

Previously recording as Bad Anorak 404, the acclaimed 2005 LP All In Miniature is jam-packed with gorgeous jazz/folk ballads and blues numbers mixing Brill Building classic compositions with odd pop DIY experimentation.  At times Bad Anorak 404 came across like Keyboard Money Mark backing Terry Callier or Julie London singing the Broadcast songbook.  Its no wonder the LP became an underground cult favourite.

It was way back in 1982 that Sangster first attracted attention with the group Send No Flowers who were considered to be the hottest band in their native Liverpool, alongside The Pale Fountains. They recorded a John Peel session and issued a classic EP.  Sangsters singing with Send No Flowers has been described as the missing link between Pauline Murray and Le Mystère des Voix Bulgares, with a wonderful trademark vibrato and shivery quiver in Kevin Pearces book A Moment Worth Waiting For.

The book also mentions how Sangster went on to front a new group Kit, one of the great underground outfits of the late 1980s, who had a country twang, some jazzy trumpet, with, as an unassuming Sangster suggests, soul and something strange in the sound. Kit featured bass player Michelle Brown, and for a while she and Sangster had the sharpest haircuts and smartest songs in Liverpool. Michelle would later play on the much-loved The Magical World of The Strands album by Michael Head and the Strands. Fans of that record and Michaels work with Shack tend to be admirers of Sangsters recordings.

The origin of Campbell L. Sangster, the name of the current project lies in a heartfelt tribute to family, reflecting the spiritual nature of music steeped in folk and popular song tradition. Sangster Says "Campbell was my mothers maiden name, and my grandfather Michael Campbell on that side of the family used to sing and play the accordion in the pubs and clubs around Liverpool in the 1950s. It was he who encouraged me as a young kid to take up music, even buying me a Chet Atkins guitar book which might explain that country twang."

'Odds Are Stacked' has the timeless feel of one of the rousing ballads Lins granddad might have sung to warm hungry hearts on the coldest of nights. It is effectively a fairy tale about a knight-errant out to win over their hearts desire, galloping across hostile terrains to stake their claim, and though the odds may be stacked against them they are determined to win the day

An EP from Campbell L. Sangster will follow this single release. An LP is also being painstakingly put together with occasional contributions from kindred spirits. In the meantime, 'Odds Are Stacked' will be available on the Higuera label from January 22nd 2016.

Monster Jaw Announce Split & Final Free Single 'Why?'

After almost three years of their creative partnership, West Yorkshire's (UK) alternative rock outfit 'Monster Jaw' deliver official news of their break up.  Founding members Mik Davis (vox/guitar), Neil Short (Bass/Vox) and drummer John Bradford announce their split up as 'amicable' and are individually focusing on new projects.

As an opportunity to deeply thank their fans and supporters, Monster Jaw have released their final single 'Why?' as a free download.  Described by the band as their most 'emotive' track to date - 'Why?' brings in guest vocals from long term Monster Jaw supporters Justin Sullivan (New Model Army)and internationally renowned poet Joolz Denby. Staying loyal to their DIY ethics of exploring lo-fi studio production, front-man Mik Davis takes on the tracks producer duties with mastering left in the capable hands of the bands long term collaborator - Wes Maebe (Libertines, Robert Plant)

Monster Jaw's front-man Mik Davis comments ...

‘It’s been a wild three years for Monster Jaw – we’ve achieved many great things together, but most importantly stuck together through some tough times and stayed friends. We wanted to end things properly, so we decided to record our final single ‘Why?’ as an epitaph for our short time together. It’s been a chance for us musically to re-visit our roots and channel some of our anger and frustration at the world around us. If we’re only ever remembered for one track - then we’d like it to be this one’.

Red House Glory
'All Out Of Love' EP
Unsigned
11 December 2015
Artist : Red House Glory
Title : 'All Out Of Love' EP
Format : EP / Download
Lead single : "PRAY NOW" ( track 1 )

RED HOUSE GLORY ANNOUNCE NEW SINGLE 'PRAY NOW' TAKEN FROM THE NEW EP – 'ALL OUT OF LOVE' - RELEASED DECEMBER 11th 2015.

LEAD SINGLE ' PRAY NOW ' ( TRACK 1 ) - As heard on BBC Radio 1 & BBC Introducing In London.

Press

“If Noel Gallagher ever decided to down-tune his guitar and jam with Brighton riff monsters Royal Blood, the result would probably sound a lot like Red House Glory” – Q

“It’s supremely humble, stompabout stuff that certainly stiches the best bits of 80s grunge and 90s Britrock together” – Classic Rock

“Proper big rock, done completely right” – Artrocker

London four-piece Red House Glory have revealed their new single ‘Pray Now’, taken from their upcoming All Out Of Love EP released on December 11th. ‘Pray Now’ premiered with Disorder Magazine who said,

With its crisp riffs rifling through the lush, driving harmonies of Red House Glory, ‘Pray Now’ sees the band at their most tantalising yet. With delicate subtly the band heaves their unique Brit-rock into new territories that are touchingly emotive and heaping with heavy dynamism.

‘Pray Now’ received its radio debut on Radio 1 on the Huw Stephens show this week, and is also being championed by BBC Introducing London.

‘Pray Now’ is taken from the All Out Of Love EP, which marks the final chapter in a trio of EPs from the London collective. The previous EPs – Living A Lie and Heart Of Gold - have been highly acclaimed across the board, including the likes of Q, Kerrang, Rock Sound and many more.

The title-track of the latest three-track EP, ‘All Out Of Love’ is a righteous anti-ballad that sees the anthemic clatter of Red House Glory exuberating in a loveless encounter. EP closer ‘Painkiller’ finds the band heading to the Deep South with a bluesy blast of indie-grunge.

The All Out Of Love EP rounds off a fantastic year for Red House Glory. From celebrating the release of their previous EPs with a brace of sold-out shows at Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen, to headlining The Hawley Arms as part of Camden Rocks, Red House Glory have proven themselves a highly formidable force within the London live scene.

Gearing up for the release of their debut album next year, Red House Glory have laid their claim firmly as ones to watch for 2016.
