“This young singer songwriter from Aberdeen has a unique, rusty raw voice with a talent for lyrically connecting his songs with emotion. Listening to his recent EP “Anchors”, it is without a doubt that Daniel has put in the effort to create a passionate collection of songs.
Aberdeen is currently a thriving city for new music and SAMA have hit the nail on the head with this nominee as his talent definitely deserves to be recognised as a Best Newcomer.” Virtuoso Blogger - 2014

OLIO who are based in Los Angeles, USA.

Previously promoted by Deuce in April 2013, Olio now return with their new album titled Untitled.
When three brothers from other mothers and fathers got together comprised of a film composer, a DJ and a director of music and arts, OLIO was formed, creating a miscellaneous collection of musical works.
Inspired by everything from Black Sabbath to Barry White, OLIO have been receiving rave reviews about their music helping create a huge buzz about them on the Los Angeles music scene.
Described as having dynamic songs ranging from nylon stringed sweetness to being sexist and subtle as a sledgehammer, Olio most recently performed at the Indie Music Fest in Las Vegas and are ambassadors for the Supercuts ‘Rock The Cut’ campaign alongside bands like Vintage Trouble.  In addition to this, they have written new lyrics for their song Comeback Kings so it could be used for the NHL Stanley Cup Champions, Los Angeles Kings which they have re-titled L.A Kings.

He’s also been delighting Japanese audiences, reaching number 2 in the Japanese charts, where his second album ‘The Pleasure of Your Company’ included 4 hit singles there and in Europe; ‘4 Letter Word’, ‘Falling from Heaven’ and a cover-version of NKOTB’s ‘Tonight’.

It’s not often that you hear a new artist and become instantly hooked and mesmerised knowing that what you’ve heard is going to the next big thing. The talented Frankie Forman is set to release her debut EP Blue Dogs...
Soulful and sultry, Frankie Forman sings from the heart. Likened to Mazzy Star and Portishead, her sound is a sexy Western esque trip-hop blues. Her upcoming mini album, Blue Dogs, co written with her right hand man Johnny Rock (aka 'buddy') from PLMB, will be showcased and launched this April, and it’s a five-song step into Frankie’s diary.
Debut single and EP opener ‘Scars On Me’ is a mysterious trip into a hazy LSD pop laden landscape. Frankie’s sultry and delicately powerful voice transcends in the song ‘Lolita’ from a slow, sensual groove to a perfectly climatic and commanding end. ‘Killer’ is a catchy whimsical Tarantino-esque desert session number with curious and soulful harmonies.
Title track ‘Blue Dogs’ is hypnotic and ethereal, her voice is smoke and velvet. The poet in Frankie was inspired by the likes of Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen but her vinyl collection is all Nina Simone, Billy Holliday and Tom Waits.
Frankie began her career in Paris playing the cafes and bars of Monmarte, but ever since her first gig in camden she has set the London scene smouldering. This summer she’ll seduce the festivals; as Bruno Wizard of The Homosexuals recently declared - 'a star in the making with lashings of humility to counterbalance her amazing talent, her voice is like honey issuing from volcanic eruptions in her soul, Frankie is one of those singers who has the same need to express herself for fear of it all imploding inside of her, I look forward to her next show, and hopefully all of them from now to the O2 and beyond. Frankie for man, Frankie for woman, Frankie for mankind!'
You can see Frankie live at the upcoming shows:

COCA-COLA RELEASES ‘THE WORLD IS OURS’
BY ALOE BLACC x DAVID CORREY FOR BRAND’S 2014 FIFA WORLD CUPTM CAMPAIGN
Track Marks the Culmination of ‘The World Is Ours’ Journey Around the World Including 24 Local Versions Covering 175 Markets
Coca-Cola has joined forces with internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter Aloe Blacc, to launch ‘The World is Ours’ – a mash up of a newly written and recorded Aloe Blacc song combined with lyrics and sounds from the original version of ‘The World Is Ours’ by David Correy and Monobloco.
The beat for ‘The World is Ours’ by Aloe Blacc x David Correy captures the spirit and excitement of the 2014 FIFA World Cup™ and host country, Brazil, while the lyrics express messages of inclusivity, celebration and happiness as told through the Coca-Cola 2014 FIFA World Cup™ campaign, The World’s Cup.
Aloe Blacc said, “The passion behind my music comes from a desire to make people dance, smile and sing. I take inspiration from all genres of music and my style is pretty diverse. Working on this anthem has given me the opportunity to fuse the sounds of Brazil with different musical influences. ‘The World is Ours’ captures everything that music should be – inclusive, exciting and uplifting.”
Director of Global Entertainment Marketing at The Coca-Cola Company, Joe Belliotti, said, “’The World is Ours’ started as a Brazilian song with the beats and sounds of Brazil and then travelled around the world where artists and remixers added local languages, sounds and instruments. We were looking for a global artist that would bring another perspective, with integrity and authenticity, and that is exactly what Aloe did.
We’re delighted to be partnering with Aloe Blacc to help us bring the story of The World’s Cup to life through music.”
The song has been travelling as part of the FIFA World Cup™ Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola, gathering the vocals of local artists from all around the globe. As the song visited each market, local artists were able to put their own spin on the track, creating duet versions featuring lyrics sung in their native language. With twenty-four local versions, covering over 175 markets, ‘The World is Ours’ is the anthem for the Coca-Cola 2014 FIFA World Cup™ campaign.
On the global collaboration, Belliotti said, “This song has more stamps in its passport than any other song out there. Our ambition for “The World Is Ours” has always been to bring the sounds of Brazil to the world and in return, the sounds of the world back to Brazil. We wanted to capture the spirit of the 2014 FIFA World Cup™ in this music – this is everyone’s cup, wherever you are, whoever you support.”
‘The World is Ours’ by Aloe Blacc x David Correy is included on “One Love, One Rhythm: The Official 2014 FIFA World Cup™ Album” to be released by Sony Music Entertainment globally on May 13th. Behind the vocals of Brazilian-American artist David Correy, the song was penned by world-class songwriting/producer team Rock Mafia, co-produced by Brazilian-born, legendary collaborator Mario Caldato Jr. and features the rhythmic samba, baile funk and technobgrega beats of Brazilian percussion band Monobloco. This cultural mix captures the inclusive spirit of The World’s Cup campaign.
Correy, the voice behind ‘The World is Ours’, was born into poverty in Recife, Brazil. Adopted at the age of two, Correy discovered a talent for music that has helped him overcome his early challenges. After a difficult start to life, his adoptive parents encouraged his passion for music. Having ventured on a musical journey of his own, Correy has since gained a dedicated fan base with his voice, inspiring story and relentless optimism.
On his partnership with Coca-Cola, Correy said, “Teaming up with Coca-Cola on this inspiring piece of music for the FIFA World Cup™ album is an unbelievable turn of events. My upbringing has brought me so much diversity and music has allowed me to express my challenges and successes in a positive way. Through this incredible journey with Coca-Cola and ‘The World is Ours’, we have shared a message of hope and passion with the world.”
Aloe Blacc and David Correy performed ‘The World is Ours’ by Aloe Blacc x David Correy live for the first time at the FIFA World Cup™ Trophy Tour concert in Los Angeles on April 19th. They were joined on stage by Puerto Rican musician Wisin, who also contributed to the local version of the anthem in Mexico.

Sam Brookes - 'This Is The Place' Out - 24th June 2014.
“There is something of a Tim Buckley about Sam Brookes…a sense of powerful fragility…vast emotional reserves at work” The Independent
“Kairos is a sensuous, fluid 21st Century folk dream.” The Daily Telegraph on Twitter
“Musically, he excels at propulsive, narratively rich folk, delivered in a soaring, clear-as-a-bell singing voice that makes every word of his evocative, detailed lyrics count.” Sunday Times
Sam Brookes has become part of the burgeoning acoustic music scene, gigging around the UK on his own and with his contempories to an ever-increasing audience of enthusiasts.
His songs are, fundamentally, beautifully crafted stories about familiar subject matters that captivate the listener. Musically, his immaculate phrasing and beautifully modulated delivery reach easily beneath the skin of his audience; the magical space he creates, with the elasticity of his writing, has the echoes and jazz arches of giants like John Martyn and Tim Buckley.
His self-titled debut brought him recognition in the form of high profile support slots with Joan Armatrading, Ray Davies and Newton Faulkner; this combined with an entrepreneurial spirit and a close kinship with other musicians such as Lucy Rose, Pete Roe and Emily & The Woods has allowed his live and recorded sound to evolve in to a more powerful and provocative body of work. Thoughtful lyrics add poetry to his tracks, something that sets his work apart in an increasingly saturated area of music.
Sam self-released his new album ‘Kairos’ on 17th March 2014, funded by his fans through Pledge Music. The release was associated with a full touring schedule of headline shows following a UK tour support for Newton Faulkner in February. Further UK and European dates are planned during June and July, and festival dates to be announced.
