'One of the albums of the year'
The Quietus

'A 26 year break bizarrely sees the band return ahead of the game'
Rolling Stone

After a twenty-six year break The Membranes broke all the rules of rock with a double album that was so perfectly realised it was been listed by media outlets around the world as one of the best albums of 2015.

'Dark Matter/Dark Energy' is a groundbreaking and eclectic work dealing with the biggest themes head on - the universe, sex and death. With a musical and lyrical daring, the band takes the post punk era's idea of experimental fervour and combines this with pioneering and influentia musicianship to produce their most accomplished album yet, which is also now their best selling album, awash with their off-kilter mix of angular post-punk adventure, Krautrock-ish soundscapes and edginess.

The Membranes of 2015 are no retro band and have somehow placed themselves in the middle of the 21st century post rock hinterland of Godspeed You Black Emperor or Earth whilst refrencing the noisier end of post punk they pioneered decades ago.

Ever restless, the band are already moving on, recently selling out a gig in Estonia where they played alongside a twenty piece all women choir in Estonia. The event was screened on national TV in the Baltics and Gettinga. A two page review in Mojo followed further cementing their presence as one of the most exciting returns to today's music scene.

In January The Membranes join BBC 6 Music's Marc Riley for their second session in four months - this time with a choir. Spring sees the band touring with Therapy and a remix of the Dark Matter/Dark Energy in full is scheduled for release in April. The album will feature remixes from the likes of Youth from Killing Joke, The Bad Seeds, Einsturzende Neubauten, Godflesh, Cosey Fanni Tutti, Therapy, Reverend And The Makers, Clint Mansell, Keith Levene, Jah Wobble, JJ Burnel and many others.

The album will be launched with a series of special event gigs where the band will again perform with the choir and John Robb will interview leading scientists in an event called The Universe Explained. Summer sees a series of special festival appearances across Europe as well as lives dates as special guests of Killing Joke on their Amaerica tour.

Three tracks from the album are available within this press pack, complete digital copies are available on request

Tulipomanias fourth album 'This Gilded Age' will be released on February 26, 2016

Lead Tracks: Hold On, Blinks First, Shooting Off the Set, Don't Be So Sure
Format: CD, Vinyl, Digital download and Streaming

Hailing from Philadelphia, Tulipomania boast gritty guitars underpinned by a brooding rhythm section to provide a backdrop for compelling and atmospheric vocals. Band members Tom Murray (lead vocals, bass, drums) and Cheryl Gelover (synthesizer, background vocals) are joined once again by Mitch Smith (guitar, background vocals), who also contributed to Tulipomanias eponymous first album. They are supported on 'This Gilded Age' by Richard Hartline (piano, percussion, engineering and mastering) and Howard Thompson (executive production).

Three music videos directed and animated by Tulipomania will be featured on Magnet magazines site, in three successive months: 'Blinks First' (January), 'Shooting Off the Set' (February), and 'Dont Be So Sure' (March). 'Blinks First' and 'Hold On' have been official selections at several international film festivals including the Brooklyn Film Festival, Animation Block Party (Brooklyn), Animated Dreams (Poland), StopTrik (Croatia, Poland), and the One Reel Film Festival, organized by the Seattle International Film Festival for the Bumbershoot music festival. January saw the Gelover and Murray attending London Short Film Festival for the screening of 'Blinks First' with legendary designer Vaughan Oliver, whose work graces the cover of 'This Gilded Age'.

Tulipomanias music videos have frequently favored the painstaking technique of stop-motion animation.
Composed of images culled from magazines and newspapers, 'Blinks First' contains thousands of individual collages on black paper, held together with over sixty rolls of tape. Frenzied disjointed instruments blast through the beats as fractured faces assemble and reassemble in lip-synchronous song.

'Shooting Off the Set' blends gilded animated objects with frame-by-frame animated lights as choruses of jittery hand cast heads lip-sync the lyrics in this tumble of artifice.

'Dont Be So Sure' is the bands first hand-painted animation, featuring multiple passes of brushwork shot on thousands of individual sheets of black paper. Singing self-portraits morph and dissolve in this atmospheric exploration of ambiguity.

Natty

Following his Top 20 debut album, ‘Man Like I’, Natty is back with his highly anticipated second album ‘Release The Fear’, a future-roots concept album that takes us on a journey through love, redemption, self-identity and unity.

Described by the Telegraph as a “soul-reggae crossover sensation” Natty is an artist who brings the revolutionary spirit of the 60s and 70s into current times. The Sunday Times praised his lyrics as “sharply focused” and his songs as “free from production trickery”. Seven years in the making, Release The Fear reflects Natty’s spiritual and sonic progression, bringing forward cosmic and mindful energies through his unmistakable delivery.

The first single of the album, ‘I'm Alive’, is a catchy proclamation of faith and a declaration of thanks for new times and new energies. It is accompanied by an evocative and visually stimulating animated video.

Other inspiring songs include ‘Street lights’, a fast paced, high energy beat that dares us to reconnect with each other and the space around us, as well as ‘Stand up in Love’ which calls for a truly unifying love that transcends conventional boundaries.

Sonically, ‘Release The Fear’ is genre straddling whilst retaining an authentic, roots/soul/ Afrocentric identity,  amalgamating into what Natty describes as “future roots”. Recorded live, the album has a unique sound with tracks ranging from the delicate and hypnotic ‘Rainclouds’ to the militant and arousing ‘Change’ featuring Busy Signal and Albarosie.

Since parting with his major label, Natty has been hard at work building his own unique brand, independently releasing an award-winning EP, set up his record label Vibes & Pressure and a monthly club night by the same name.

Still very active on the live music circuit, the North Londoner has hit the stages of SWSW, Radio 1’s Big Weekend, Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party, Reading & Leeds and the BBC Electric Proms. Natty has also toured the USA supporting Ziggy Marley and travelled to Zimbabwe, Brazil, Japan and Europe performing for local crowds.

Previously receiving the support from the likes of BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2, ITV, MTV, Later with Jools Holland amongst others, Natty is excited to embark on his new project and share his message of love with the rest of the world.

Meter Bridge
Evocative of Man Machine period Kraftwerk, had the German four-piece chosen to invent glitchcore on their way to perfecting technopop" - The Record Stache
"Melodic synth swells, infectious percussion & that immense duel vocal attack...a band on the cusp of greatness. Perfection personified" - Primal Music Blog
""Refreshing addition to today's synthpop scene, bringing in post-punk and new wave influences in ways unlike others" - Stereo Embers Magazine
"Electropop brilliance. Lucid combination of groove and offset melody... the spirit of Kraftwerk" - Jammerzine

FOR FANS OF: Kraftwerk, Ladytron, Section 25, LCD Soundsystem, Fisherspooner, Hot Chip, The Knife, Shiny Toy Guns, minimal and melodic synthpop

Canadian synthwave duo Meter Bridge are releasing their latest single It Was Nothing through WEATNU Records. Comprised of two tracks, this is being offered as a free download via Bandcamp. In this thoughtfully arranged and sparkly composition, moogs whistle and rhythms click into the night, as these two voices blend into a sound that is part Human League, part Blade Runner, and 100% Meter Bridge.

Meter Bridge, who are Richard Kleef and Jill Beaulieu, have a distinctive and unmistakable sonic identity, unique from anybody else on the current electronica scene. This is led by their trademark multi-layered boy / girl melodic vocals, melded with minimalistic groove-infused alternative dance melodies teetering between retro and futuristic.

"It Was Nothing is about a public figure spreading lies that play on peoples' heartstrings... for the purpose of getting millions of people supporting a false agenda," explained frontwoman Jill Beaulieu. "This kind of hypocrisy is very difficult to expose... because ignorance is bliss."

Based in Nelson, Canada, they have been playing together since 2011, gathering an enthusiastic following amongst music aficionados and lovers of classic and contemporary synthpop. In 2014, they released their eponymous debut EP, following by the 'Slow Motion' LP in 2015, both of them drawing significant attention on the electronica scene internationally and landing them in numerous 'Best of' lists in each of these years. The Record Stache (#8 synthpop album of 2015) says their music is "evocative of Man Machine period Kraftwerk, had the German four piece chosen to invent glitchcore on their way to perfecting technopop".

This B-side for this single features a remix by Rodney Cromwell, whose debut 'Age of Anxiety' LP (2015, Happy Robots Records) introduced electronic pop lovers to some epic retro future synth music.  Influenced by the electronic sounds of the pre-digital age, his music has crossover appeal equally embracing synthpop and indiepop. This has gained Cromwell solid support from the likes of Malcolm Holmes (OMD) and Rusty Egan (Visage, Rich Kids).

The album has had press and airplay in over 40 countries. UK airplay highlights include play from Steve Lamacq & and Gideon Coe (BBC6 Music), Pete Paphides (Soho Radio), Rusty Egan (Mi-Soul) and Shell Zenner (Amazing Radio). Globally highlights include multiple plays on National Radio 3 in Spain and extensive play on U.S. College radio with press in NME, Electronic Sound Magazine, Impose, Louder Than War, The Electricity Club and others. Rodney Cromwell's music features in over a dozen 'Best of 2015' lists and was named Album of the Year by De Ketterzeg in Holland and 'Synthpop Album of the Year' by The Record Stache.

Hailing from Catford in South London, Rodney Cromwell is the project of Adam Cresswell, former main-man of John Peel favourites Saloon and the critically acclaimed Arthur & Martha.

Both Meter Bridge and Rodney Cromwell will be playing events occurring through the Electro London Festival. Rodney Cromwell will be playing the Electro London concert at Electrowerkz on January 30th with Massive Ego, The Department, Johnny Normal and DJ Rob Harvey (Synth City). Meter Bridge will be playing the Electro London Festival on September 10, 2016 with Wolfgang Flür (ex-Kraftwerk), Shiny Darkness and others.

Keep up with Meter Bridge

Hologram Teen has released a 2-track single on 7" vinyl via London's Deep Distance label. This is the solo electronic music project of Morgane Lhote, whose music can be described as 'motorik disco'. This project was born in 2012 after a lengthy and colourful career in numerous other bands, including seminal band Stereolab.

Originally from Paris, Morgane Lhote moved to London when she was 20 and spent 12 years there. Then she moved to NYC and, nine years later, moved to Los Angeles. She played keyboards in Stereolab from 1995 to 2001, then in The Projects from 2002 to 2004. From 2005, she played in Garden and with members of Simian Mobile Disco / Simian, until finally starting this current project Hologram Teen. She was with Stereolab for their legendary albums 'Dots and Loops' and "Emperor Tomato Ketchup', among other releases.

'Post-apocalypteacakes' mixes horror-film synths, bouncy dancehall effects, and disco beats into a killer electronic instrumental. Featuring Buddy Cop, this sounds like something out of a prog rock - disco - horror movie soundtrack. "It's like Fabio Frizzi meets Grandmaster Flash," says Morgane.

Her new material does not directly resemble her former band Stereolab, but does have the stop/start choppyness / jazzyness of mid to late Stereolab, which is what makes this music distinct from straight Electronica. There is clearly a lot of 70s influence, as well as 90s house, but seems to have completely bypassed the 80s.

"My music is pretty eclectic (always electronic though). I wanna make electronic dance music that's playful and groovy (mostly influenced by disco and Italian horror soundtracks) with loads of diverse and imaginative samples," explains Morgane Lhote.   "This is a soundtrack to a movie where John Carpenter and Boris Karloff hang out at Studio 54 with German zombies dancing to Thriller in the background".

Her influences and tastes are super eclectic, citing MF DOOM, Francois De Roubaix, GZA, Judee Sill, ABBA, John Carpenter, Goblin, Gene Clark, ELO, Harpers Bizarre, King Tubby, Michel Legrand, Hot Chip, Supertramp, Luke Vibert, Martha and the Muffins, Soft Machine, Suzanne Ciani, Greg Kurstin and Chic.

The 2-track single is coming out in November on a small London label called Deep Distance, the sister imprint of Great Pop Supplement. The first of these is more focused on releases in the kosmische / kraut / synth genres. Both labels are lovingly run from the corner of a crouch-end kitchen and can proudly boast sold out back catalogues of stubbornly vinyl only releases. Great Pop Supplement is more known for its roster, which features Spacemen 3, Spectrum, Still Corners, Dean & Britta, Wooden Shjips, Damon & Naomi, The Soundcarriers, and more recently Eat Lights Become Lights.

To date, Deep Distance has released works by Expo 70, Colin Potter (Nurse With Wound), Cavern of Anti-Matter (the new project of Stereolab's Tim Gane), XAM (new project of Hookworms' Matthew Benn), Umberto, and Cosmic Ground.

Both tracks were written by Morgane Lhote and produced by Richard Bennett.  'Post-Apocalypteacakes' was mixed by Robert Fullum and mastered by Adam Gonsalves at Telegraph. 'Tracksuit Minataur' was also mixed by Rich Bennett, and mastered by Justin Colletti, artwork by Alex Smith.

In the UK, the Hologram Teen 7" vinyl is available through Norman Records, Rough Trade, Piccadilly Records, Hey Day Mailorder, Resident Records, and Covers33music online. In the EU, it is available through Clear Spot Distribution, Tommes Schallplatten, HHV Mailorder and Hafenschlammrecords, among others. Worldwide, it is also available directly from Deep Distance via email.

Rodney Cromwells music belongs to the future" - NME
"A reminder of good pop tunes from a magical era" - Louder Than War
Synthpop album of 2015 hands down - The Record Stache
"This is really just the best album of 2015" - De Kettinggzaag
"Echoes of OMD, Kraftwerk, the Pet Shop Boys and New Order. He even gives the BBC Radiophonic Workshop a run for their money" - Sounds XP
"Sounds like liquid gold. Age of Anxiety has renewed my faith in the digital age of electro pop" - Malcolm Holmes (OMD)

FOR FANS OF: 70's & 80's synthpop, OMD, Pet Shop Boys, Visage, Kraftwerk, New Order & contemporary retro futurists such as those championed by Ghostbox Records. Rodney Cromwell has been compared lyrically to the sardonic wit of John Grant.
LEAD TRACKS: Black Dog (Version), You Will Struggle (Rod's Glitchy Disco Mix)

London synthpop wonder Rodney Cromwell has released his 'Black Dog' EP, the highly anticipated follow up to the debut 'Age of Anxiety' LP released in 2015 on Happy Robots Records. The album introduced the modern electronic lover to some epic retro future synth music. It was inspired by the classic analogue-synth pop sound of the 80s and was complemented lyrically by Cromwells acerbic take on his struggle with his personal demons.

The Black Dog EP features four all new re-workings of choice cuts from the album, cranking the knob marked analogue synth disco to eleven. Black Dog (Version), with a merciless edit, turns the lengthy epic album track into the tightest radio-friendly ode to depression you will ever hear. You Will Struggle (Glitchy Disco Mix) was made for the dancefloor landing in uncharted territory between Rex the Dog and The Best of Divine.

In 2015, Rodney Cromwell gained solid support from Malcolm Holmes (OMD) and Rusty Egan (Visage, Rich Kids). The record has had coverage in over 50 countries, including airplay on BBC6 Music thanks to Steve Lamacq and Gideon Coe, on Soho Radio with Pete Paphides, with global airplay highlights including multiple spins on national Radio 3 in Spain, extensive coverage on US college radio and play on countless electronic music shows. Press coverage has seen appearances in Electronic Sound Magazine, Impose, Northern Transmissions, NME and many more. In December, The Electricity Club named Rodney Cromwell 'Most Promising New Act of 2015' and listed Black Dog among their top songs of 2015 alongside Chvrches, New Order, Wolfgang Flur, Gwenno and others. Age of Anxiety was also included in +25 Best of 2015' lists and was named Synthpop Album of the Year by The Record Stache.

Hailing from Catford in South London, Rodney Cromwell is the solo project of Adam Cresswell, founding member of indie-folktronica band Saloon (who had four entries in John Peels Festive 50, recorded three Peel Sessions and had top 10 album of the year in The Sunday Times) and one half of electronic two-piece Arthur & Martha  (acclaimed by the likes of NME, The Guardian and Artrocker). On this EP, singer Alice Hubley (Arthur & Martha, Cosines) also features on the songs Black Dog and You Will Struggle'.

The 'Black Dog' EP and 'Age of Anxiety' LP are available on Bandcamp and CDs are available through Cargo Records and Darla Records.

Rodney Cromwell will be appearing on 30 January 2016 at Elecrowerkz, Islington, supporting Massive Ego as part of the Electro London series of events www.electrolondonfestival.com. Contact Happy Robots to be put on the guest list happyrobotsrecordings@gmail.com

The Mining Co. with debut single ‘Country Heart’ coming out 11th March.
Their self titled debut album, also out 11th March is a really awesome collection of deep outstanding songs. Think Mark Kozelek, Bonnie Prince Billy or Phosphorescence but from London with Irish roots. It’s touching, intriguing and nicely organic.
