Info -

Here it is - the new single from Nottingham's Spotlight Kid:
I’ll Do Anything is released on August 25th 2014 via St Marie Records
The new single “I’ll Do Anything” is taken from Spotlight Kid's latest album “Ten Thousand Hours” released on US shoegaze/dreampop label Saint Marie Records in April 2014.
This track follows on from previous releases “A Minor Character” and “Sugar Pills” which both received national airplay and the latter was picked by Huw Stephens as his “track of the week” on his BBC Radio 1 show.
“I’ll Do Anything” is layers of melody & fuzzed up pop, the soundtrack to their imaginary road movie. Guitars building over the whispered vocals of lead singer Katty Heath, underneath a driving loop that builds into a juggernaut of noise.
Spotlight Kid are a Nottingham-based shoegaze band. Line-up: Chris Davis (formerly of sixbyseven) on drums, Katty Heath (formerly of Bent) on vocals, Rob McCleary & James Taylor on guitars and Matt Holt on bass.
They were handpicked by Zane Lowe, Jo Whiley, Tom Robinson and Steve Lamacq to play Glastonbury in 2011.
They make reverb-soaked noise-pop of the finest order, with layered harmonies & swirling distorted guitars which at one time may have sat happily grinning among the Creation Records roster of the 90's.
Every track is soaked in melody and atmosphere layering Katty Heath's voice, much bolder and upfront this time, against pounding drums, bass, shimmering guitars and keys.
Spotlight Kid will be back on the road for a small tour to promote the release.
Playing the Shacklewell Arms - London 28th Nov
Hare & Hounds - Birmingham 29th nov
Chameleon - Nottingham 30th Nov
“There's little doubt that Spotlight Kid's status as one of the most innovative bands treading the UK circuit is all but assured” - Drowned in Sound

The Ruby's
Hailing from Manchester, the 6 piece indie/rock band have been together since 2010 and release their new single Jesus Girl on September 29th.
They've played on the same bills as The Charlatans, The Paul Weller Band and The Buzzcocks and this has underscored the credibility of The Rubys.
Further gigs delivered notable performances; sell-out gigs at The Manchester Academy, The Deaf Institute, FAC251: The Factory, Dry Bar, and Night & Day Cafe have followed.
The Rubys released their debut album "Limelight Parasite" in 2012, which was recorded at Vibe Studios – where New Order had recorded previously.
The album was produced by Manchester legend Martin Coogan (The Mock Turtles) and the prodigious new talent of Dean Glover (Skeleton Suite/Young Myths).
The album proved to be a breakthrough in the US, garnering The Rubys first US #1 on Philadelphia's’ SRRocks.com Countdown Chart with the track “After All”. The single would go on to record three weeks and two visits to the top, followed by a further three #1 singles in quick succession.
Syndication of the show and significant social media chatter has introduced The Rubys to fans across the US. Today, The Rubys are regularly played on stations in Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and more.
In the UK, the band have enjoyed airplay on BBC Introducing and Absolute Radio, as well as a plethora of Manchester stations.
The Rubys hit the road on the ‘Limelight Parasite Tour 2013” with a critically acclaimed show at Dry Bar, Manchester, followed by gigs at The Good Ship in London & The O2 Academy, Birmingham.
Future plans for the The Rubys include the recording of a second album with Martin Coogan (October 2014), the prospect of more tours & Festivals in 2015, and a long heralded US Tour.
They play Manchester's Deaf Institute on 18th October (Sold out) as well as the Salford Festival on September 26th.
On Jesus Girl, the band say: "A song that originally began as more of an expletive (Jesus, girl!), has transformed into something much more powerful and symbolic. We are often asked "Who is Jesus Girl?", and that question opens up a whole new line of thinking. Does gender matter? Does religion matter? What would we do if we found that Jesus really did exist, and how would we all react if Jesus was a girl"?
On its recording: "The song initially evolved quite quickly. We like songs that just 'arrive', and Jesus Girl seemed to be hanging in the ether until Barry picked out the chord progression. In contrast, recording the track proved difficult. We just could not seem to get the right fit on the harmonies. We probably spent as much time trying to record the backing vocals that we did recording all the other instruments put together. We tried backing singers, doubling & tracking Lees' voice, in addition to other weird approaches....until we heard Martin Coogan absent-mindedly sing the perfect harmony during a break in recording. The rest, as they say, was history: Martin did the backing vocals in 10 minutes and the track was complete.
The Rubys are:
Lee Hunter: Vocals
Barry Kirkwood : Guitar
Tat Sing Kong : Lead Guitar
Kevin Barry : Keyboards & Backing Vocals
Mike Hamilton : Bass Guitar
Dave Earlam : Drums

MAGALIE
POP’S NEW BIG SISTER MAGALIE
‘FIRST KISS’
THE INFECTIOUS DEBUT SINGLE
Released: 5th October
Magalie – the name may be unfamiliar – but her debut single 'First Kiss' takes you back to that moment you never forget.
An infectious sense of fun and playfulness defines Magalie’s character. She is the cooler big sister, the girl your brothers fancied and your sisters aspired to be.
Born in Paris to Mauritian parents, Magalie has called London home for most of her life. Having always had a love for music (inspired from Alanis Morisette to Prince), her sheer determination led to various chance encounters with the music industry.
From writing sessions with pop gurus Guy Chambers (Robbie Williams, Adele) and Wayne Hector (One Direction), it was perhaps a one chance encounter with Zepherin Saint, label head of legendary dance label Tribe Records, that saw Magalie realise her ambition of starting the pop path. Zapherin, so convinced by Magalie’s raw talent even launched a new division of the label, simply called Ovation. Add to this a brief spell writing in Atlanta via friend and mentor Taio Cruz also, and the result is an artist who has found herself and her voice.
Now as Magalie prepares to release her debut single, 'First Kiss' like her style, her future is looking bright. The perfect slice of summer pop, the ditty tells the classic story of boy meets girl, girl meets boys and love is in the air. Drenched in punchy and bright hooks, this is feel good pop about good old-fashioned love, girls and boys and that moment we never forget. The track was co-written by Magalie and Tom Fuller (Kelly Rowland, Patrick Wolf).

Peur. Formed at the beginning of 2013, with influences from Alternative Rock bands such as Biffy Clyro, Muse, 30 Seconds to Mars,Placebo and Nine Inch Nails, to the niche Post Rock bands such as 65daysofstatic and This Will Destroy You. Peur’s broad music taste allowed them to write music with complexity and also mainstream appeal that outshone other bands their age. At the moment the band are working extremely hard and are hitting the ground running - they have already been broadcast through BBC Radio and across many Independent and Commercial, FM and Internet Radio shows, collecting great reviews.

I'd really appreciate it if you would take a listen to their music. I'd love to hear your opinion. It would be fantastic if you would consider playing a track on your show.
I've posted  links to downloadable tracks, attached MP3s and the bands current EPK to this email, the songs are taken from the Debut EP, We Can Build Astronauts.

Ever young -
These days, it’s pretty hard to find a pop artist that hasn’t taken a shortcut of some sort (whether it be through a reality TV show or otherwise) to reach the sparkling heights of stardom. But with a rapidly ascending fanbase of almost 58,000 facebook fans, 10,000+ twitter followers and a super busy touring schedule - all gained off their own back - EverYoung are an exception. Combining a fun-loving, feel-good approach to pop music, with a slick professionalism way beyond their years and good old-fashioned hard work, the group is prepped to explode onto the airwaves everywhere in the near future. Their latest single ‘Icy Blue’ is set to become the soundtrack to that success.

EverYoung are made up of two boys (Eyal and Jack) and two girls (Cherelle and Hollie), all of which write their own songs, choreograph their own dance routines, and – ethically - never mime. Meeting at The Sylvia Young Theatre School (a previous home of Amy Winehouse, Emma Bunton, Tom Fletcher, Nathan Sykes & Rita Ora), the group became good friends, and soon decided to form a band and tour. Promoting through the use of social media and YouTube cover videos, to date they’ve played at over 250+ schools, under age nightclubs, live gigs, radio stations and lots more. They have also featured in publications such as The Evening Standard, Shout, Girl Talk and Teen Now, as well as appearing on TV shows including BBC London and Live with Fern Britton.

Showcasing the joyful vibes they’re bringing to these places, and following in the footsteps of their debut single ‘You Got Me’ (which entered the indie singles chart at number 30 last year), ‘Icy Blue’ combines polished production with free flowing harmonies, classic pop sheen, lyrical relatability, expert songwriting chops and a melodically complex yet infectiously catchy chorus.

The song is the first of three singles that the band will release over the following few months, a period of which they will also spend performing up close and intimate gigs across the UK.

“We’ve been working so hard and are finally starting to see it pay off,” says Eyal. “The year ahead is looking fully booked and pretty crazy!”

Jack says, “So much has changed for us. We’re doing what we’ve grown up watching our role models do. This is going to be an incredible year for us and we can’t wait to share what we’ve got lined up with everyone.”

The band’s work ethic, perseverance and ambitious drive are sure to bring them further success in the future, and the group are excited to be busier than ever. “We’ve had so much fun being able to work in the studio and really have an input into our new songs,” says Hollie.
