Court Royal

With funk music weighing heavily on the charts at the moment, the time is perfect for new funk-soul-pop group Court Royal to enter the scene. Having formed only last year, the band have made swift progress in recording their slick debut single, the aptly titled ‘Can’t Get Enough’.

The track shows off not only Court Royal’s knack for laying down a strong groove, but also a respect for getting the recording and production right. The single was recorded at the famous Motor Museum in Liverpool after the band were scouted to use the facilities. The results on the single were so good that the rest of the album will also be recorded there in Spring.

David Morin

Soulful, danceable, and mellow, "Life Goes On" is the debut single from multi-talented Canadian artist David Morin. The track features David's, jazz-influenced vocals, a hip-shaking beat that feels like post-modern trip-hop meets old-school R&B with a message of staying cool and positive, even when surrounded by chaos. Life Goes On’ is a taste of the groove-laden vibe that fans can expect from his upcoming album,

‘Every Colour’ released later this year.

Reminiscent of the classic sounds of Boys II Men and Lighthouse Family, Morin’s vocal blends effortlessly over a rhythmic guitar line and synthesized beat. Morin’s voice, like honey, brings to mind the likes of John Legend and Neyo for both its register and tenor over a complex and diverse instrumental line.

FROGBELLY AND SYMPHONY

 ‘Minderbinder’

 Out -11/05/2015

FROGBELLY AND SYMPHONY (Brooklyn, NY and Sheffield, UK)

Album title: Blue Bright Ow Sleep, out Apr 13 (Labelship/Shellshock)

Progressive rock echoes through folk landscapes, with urban poetry,

pop melodies, repetitive chants and experimental segues.

Their first full length album Blue Bright Ow Sleep on CD, vinyl and digital formats on Labelship Records, available in the UK and Ireland on April 13th.

Frogbelly and Symphony are born of the clash and fusion that characterized the late 20th century. Disparate influences from the Old World to New York are brought together in the furnaces of Sheffield and Brooklyn, revealing a stylistic repertoire that injects the indigenous workingman’s soul into the periphery of the bohemian metropolis Academically trained in traditional instrument playing and constantly experimenting with production techniques, the band systematically processes every imaginable acoustic influence.

Like their debut EP ‘the EYE’ (Labelship, 2013) Blue Bright Ow Sleep was produced by Martin Bisi (Bill Laswell, Sonic Youth, Swans, Dresden Dolls) and tracked in the fabled BC studio in Brooklyn. It was thereafter mixed at the Laundry Rooms Studio in Sheffield.

Conceptually, Blue Bright Ow Sleep has been developed while playing 100+ shows in Europe, UK and US since they began performing in 2012. The band was newly-discovered by radio WFUV at the CMJ Marathon in October 2014. Frogbelly’s first official single Patch of Blue premiered recently on their UKNY show. With band members living on both sides of the pond, it has been a challenging yet inspiring journey through a surrealist world of dark and light, blue and bright, war and peace, and truth and lie.

It’s Witchingseason as new single ‘The Healer’ hits this spring

Single due for release April 27th ahead of new album later in 2015

photo 3Based in the UK, Witchingseason are a dark alt-rock trio who certainly know how to write music that makes an impression. Not for the faint of heart, their music is a cacophony of heavy guitar riffs, riotous drums and coarse, melodic vocals that are tailor made for rock audiences to shout right back at the band.

Building a reputation for being real hard workers, the single drops soon having only released their debut EP in November. You can hear the track here, including backing vocals from none other than Tommy Smith of Leogun:

It’s not hard to see how this sound can make an impact, its immediacy speaks for itself and is the reason why not too long ago the band were able to play a huge live show at the prestigious 100 Club in London. And 2015 is set to keep up that momentum, with the single out on April 27th plus an exciting gig coming up at Camden Barfly on July 10th, with more dates to follow when work is completed on the summer album they have planned.

Press quotes:

“The band boasts a wealth of rocking talent…heavy and impressive guitar riffs teamed with fierce drum beats all stitched together with Reynolds coarse and captivating vocals.” - Soundscape Magazine

ALYSHA BRILLA

 Two Shots'

 Out - 18th May 2015

Watch Two Shots Here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JD_fMLnsqXw

Juno Nominee Alysha Brilla is fast becoming one of the most acclaimed new comers out of Canada, this year the singer is set to make her UK debut with Two Shots

Over the past couple of years Alysha's music has received nothing but praise, claiming titles such as the 2015 UK Songwriter Contest Winner & Anokhi Music Award, not to mention a host of Juno nominations (The Canadian Brits). Brilla's music has also been featured on major network television shows including King & Degrassi; The Next Generation.

A practicing yogi, Alysha's work extends beyond her music and late last year she launched Womyn a branded philosophy that encapsulates the singers artistry and ideology. "WOMYN is feminist. It is progressive. It is strong and it is meaningful. In my view, our world needs feminist womyn, men and non-gendered peoples to take a stand on behalf of 'women's rights'."

At a mere 25 years of age, Alysha has been honored with the Oktoberfest Woman of the Year Award, and her work continues to surpass those of her peers

Two Shots is a self-produced track that tells the classic story of heartbreak accompanied with Brilla's signature Root-Soul musicianship.

Keep Up with Alysha Here:
