NEW SINGLE ( CD AND DIGITAL)

'Who R Ya?'

Artist : SISTERAY

Single Release: WHO R YA?

Label: 1-2-3-4 Records

Release date: 16th September 2016

Track Length : 3:11

“the band radiate the sense of Men On A Mission who engage both with their audience and the wider world beyond Camden.” – TOM ROBINSON – BBC 6 MUSIC

"Sisteray, are not so much “emerging” as bursting out with tuneful attitude" The Zine

"2016 is  going to be a big year for Sisteray"  Simon Raymonde  –  Amazing Radio

Sisteray hit 2016 running bringing a punk ethos and attitude to their rousing guitar anthems. In January they were part of This Feelings Big In 2016 gigs, in February their track 'A Wise Man Said' was released as the double A side single with ‘Back To Yours’ picking up extensive radio play on BBC Radio 1/BBC Introducing via Huw Stephens, Gary Crowley and Phil Taggart, Radio X via John Kennedy and the evening playlist, and not only that, receiving huge BBC 6 Music support from Steve Lamacq, Gideon Coe, Chris Hawkins, Tom Robinson and much more.

'Who R Ya?' has been the opening song for Sisteray live sets in recent months and is a vibrant rocking call to arms against being monitored by the state, questioning the dubious credentials of people in positions of power - Who R Ya? indeed.

Like the previous Sisteray single, this track was recorded in a studio on a boat, Lightship 95 and produced by Rory Atwell (Testicles / The Vaccines / Palma Violets).

Sisteray are also establishing themselves as a formidable presence on the live scene. Playing pop-up #guerillagigs , organising their own club night Welcome To The Monkey House where they choose the bands, promote the gig and often DJ and have already played roof raising sets at Camden Rocks and the Isle Of Wight festivals this year with more confirmed. They are also not afraid to make a stand and express a point of view. They filmed the recording of a demo for another live favourite ‘Gentrification’ which has so far had over 20,000 views across Facebook and YouTube and will be participating in events this autumn including the 40th Anniversary of Rock Against Racism.

Written in the form of a modern fairy tale, the story of two lovers fleeing from an oppressive regime, ‘Comeback Kid’ follows the band’s debut single 'Love Potion' which received great support from Steve Lamacq on BBC 6 Music and several Triple-A stations in the USA, a live session on Fubar Radio and playlisting at Amazing Radio.

William Gray was a founding member of The Smokestacks, who, despite national tours, BBC live sessions, radio airplay, two single releases and major label interest, disbanded in 2008 having never officially released an album.

A prolific songwriter, Gray was keen to release an album and decided to go down the independent route. May 2009 saw his first solo outing 'None of the Above'. Reaction was extremely positive with reviewers drawing favourable comparisons with respected and renowned songwriters like Elliott Smith, Bon Iver, Badly Drawn Boy and Damon Albarn.

In addition to earning a BBC Radio interview and live session, 'None Of The Above' was also voted one of Vibrations Magazine's top albums of 2010. A trick Gray would repeat with his second album 'Vertical Wealth', which garnered increasing attention throughout 2011 and again with 2012's 'Casual Observer'.

After his move to Hangzhou, China, Gray's album 'Wensan Rd' was released at the end of 2013 capturing the attention of main players on the local music scene and high praise from That's China magazine. The following year saw Gray becoming a regular solo performer in and around his new hometown.

In 2015 Gray joined the roster of artists at Medic Independent Records, with the Hangzhou label organising well received solo shows in different provinces of China. The release of EP 'Tish' brought  acclaim in both the UK and China, with more BBC airplay and over 14,000 plays on popular Chinese music site Xiami. The year culminated in a Hangzhou show playing alongside internationally lauded acoustic guitar virtuoso Jon Gomm in December.

2016 is proving another busy year with the release of new album 'Flounce' back in March and EP 'Seine' scheduled for an October 1st release.

Of 'Seine', William says "Prior to the preceding album, a project had been put to one side in favour of doing something more upbeat. Later this material was revisited, to discern what was salvageable. The word 'dragnet' was already the title of an album by The Fall, so 'Seine' was chosen, which is a type of large fishing net. This represents well the general concept, the urge to cast a net over a wide area to see what can be retrieved. In terms of the recordings, these were the five tracks deemed good enough for release, be it with additional work. Instrumentally and lyrically the melancholy feel of this EP represents a break from the two previous releases, in that it's underpinned by acoustic guitar and a more traditional approach to writing. For the overall sound, the urge to remain somewhat lo-fi, with tinges of electronica and psychedelia is perhaps all that remains with regards to 'Flounce' and 'Tish'."

"It's clear that this is the eclectic and idiosyncratic ramblings of an effortlessly talented songwriter."

Rob Paul Chapman, Vibrations Magazine

Nothing In The Desert’, from one of the most amazing folk crossover projects of the year, Paul Mosley & The Red Meat Orchestra’s ‘The Butcher’ folk opera.

The video for it features some great puppetry and also the track features Jamie Lawson amongst other great musicians.

Aussie rockers MASSIVE have teamed up with VEVO! for the premiere of their brand new music video for the track "Blood Money Blues" ahead of the band's Aussie Wrecking Crew UK/Euro Tour.

Taken from their new album, 'Destination Somewhere', the hilarious new video was shot in double speed as a single take and in true MASSIVE fashion features such carnage as a sex scene, drinks being spiked, grandmas rocking out on stage, strippers on a pool table and more.  Filmed at one of the boys' favourite drinking spots - The Bendigo Hotel in Melbourne - "Blood Money Blues" is the story of just another late night out with MASSIVE.

40 Shillings On The Drum’ are a folk-rock band from Brighton, England. Layering sweet guitar licks and fiddle kicks on top of complex keys, they bring a fresh sound to a traditional style.

The debut single – ‘Brighton Belle’ will be released to stream, and as a digital download, on Friday 30th September 2016 available through –

iTunes, Amazon, eMusic and Spotify.

After over a year’s preparation, ’40 Shillings On The Drum’ launched online in July 2016 and performed their first gig on Wednesday 27th July as part of Churchill Square’s Busk Stop event in Brighton. Attracting the largest turnout of all the acts to perform, the band subsequently went on to win the competition and will be recording for a day in famous local studio, Brighton Electric, as a result. The band are currently, totally independent, having written, recorded, produced, mixed and mastered the single themselves with the help of Ali Gavan at Brighton Road Studios.

40 Shillings On The Drum are armed to the teeth with an array of songs about life, love, friendship, and getting smashed out of your brain, and are ready to take on the world, one town at time.

Their as-yet, untitled debut album is due for release in 2017.

‘Great recordings. Love the distortion, violin and your guitarist. You've got a great Brit pop style of vox too!’ Bobby Banjo, Beans On Toast

‘I love the energy on these recordings, it's something that I think is really missing from contemporary music. There is obviously an Irish influence, but I hear shades of The Clash (at their best), Thin Lizzy, Boomtown Rats, Elvis Costello. You've really managed to capture the feeling that you are reflecting real people on the street.’ Mark Flannery, Engineer/Producer (U2, Black Sabbath, Depeche Mode)

‘Opener Ode To Old Reilly set the tone of a band big on musicianship and melody - and intelligent lyrics with both a meaning and enough hooks to get under the skin of even the most hardened music lover.’ The Brighton Magazine, brighton.co.uk

‘Ain’t too many acts have mixed Gaelic folk and rock successfully. Great musicianship, catchy songs, I think you deserve to do really well. I can hear it stands head and shoulders above most of the new stuff I hear.’ Alex McNamara, The Australian Pink Floyd Show (The world’s biggest selling tribute act)

Immerse yourself in the intimate new single ‘Taking Me Under’ from Aussie singer-songwriter Ashley Iona

Combining a compelling ear for storytelling and a mesmerising vocal tone, Ashley Iona comes through with a fresh sound comparable to the likes of Florence and the Machine, Sia and Chet Faker.

Her new single ‘Taking Me Under’ is set to appear on the deluxe edition of her new EP and comes with a powerful and emotional video.

Watch video for ‘Taking Me Under’ here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ddaclevHgxs&feature=youtu.be

Ashley Iona has recently worked with the likes of acclaimed lyricist John Bettis (a big fan of her work and vision) and Alice Randall (the first African American woman to score a country hit in the US). She has also worked with highly-praised mixer Justin Hergett (who was nominated a Grammy for mixing Beyonce’s acclaimed self titled 2014 album).

Other exciting collaborations include a single with Date Night, the Australian DJ trio who just celebrated 1 million streams on Spotify. Iona wrote and is featured on their next single in October.

Currently based in Los Angeles, she has previously lived in countries across the globe from Australia to the UK to Uganda and moved more than 20 times in her life.  Her touring has also taken her around the world and she recently opened for Szjerdene for SoundCrash Music on August 22nd.  Ashley Iona has also been asked to perform at the BMI headquarters as a part of their invitation only Songwriters round.  She’ll also be at Salon Noir in Soho on September 27th.

A classically trained singer from the age of 10, Ashley has spent the past 4 years in LA working with the Valeria Morehouse Studio in LA, home to other acts such as Sia and Christina Perri, to develop and find her own voice.  She has experimented with different musical styles and her exploration and keen musical sense can be heard in her new heartfelt single ‘Taking Me Under’.

As the band make their way across the U.K. on tour, William Control has announced the first details of his eagerly awaited new album 'Revelations'. The album will be split in to four E.P.'s, Pale, Black, Red and White. The first of which, entitled 'The Pale E.P.' will be released on the 14th of October.

The Synths + Sinners tour has gotten off to a Monster start with William Control giving fans the first taste of the new record. Single 'The Monster' has been released with a haunting video, which was shot on location in Brooklyn with Terry Matlin.

Want to know more about Revelations? William Control comments:

"Building something new is never easy. The long hours, the lack of sleep, the shuck and pull of emotions that rage and boil and crash around the surface of the ocean in your heart. The technical build up, the digital sound of love and anger, the grease it takes to prime the movement, and the joy of listening and creating one cohesive neuromantic movement for the souls of your brothers and sisters, children and grandparents.

We have new music coming. The Neuromantic Movement Begins Now. So it's game on for the Neuromantic boys. 'The Monster' is the first offering from my digital heart. We couldn't be more pleased with the way it turned out.

Let's get this out there so everyone takes notice. Thank you all and let's enjoy the ride."

William Control is currently on tour in the U.K. Catch them at the following shows-

9th September - London, Club Antichrist

10th September - Manchester, Factory 251

One of the best blues bands in Britain”, cult Rhythm and Blues band Nine Below Zero release this first single from their brand new album ‘13 Shades of Blue’.

This particular track came about when Squeeze member Glenn Tilbrook (whose 45 RPM studio was used to record the album, and who features on album track ‘That’s What Love Will Make You Do’ playing the Sitar Guitar) rang band frontman Dennis Greaves and said, “I've just heard a track on the radio that Nine Below Zero would murder. It’s called ‘Don’t Play That Song (You Lied)’ by Aretha Franklin, you've got to do it.”

The Nine Below Zero version features guest vocals from Charlie Austen who walked into a Blues night Dennis hosts and asked to sing….

“She sang Stormy Monday and the whole place stopped in their tracks and were blown away by her performance”.

On all of the tracks on the album the sound of the 4-piece band is augmented by the addition of a horn section, keyboards, violin and backing vocalists to create an exciting new NBZ BIG BAND sound.

Since their formation in 1977 NINE BELOW ZERO have developed a reputation as one of the best blues bands in Britain. Their high energy live act was already well established by the time they signed to A&M RECORDS in 1980 and was forever captured on their classic live album 1980’s ‘Live At The Marquee’.

New album 13 Shades of Blue features the original members of the band: Dennis Greaves (guitar and vocals) Mark Feltham (harmonica and vocals) Mickey Burkey (drums & percussion) and Brian Bethell on bass (as well as touring bassist Ben Willis) who handpicked the best of a cross section of styles that come under the heading of Blues and R’n’B for the album. The album opens with the grooves of ‘Don’t Lay Your Funky Trip on Me’ made famous by Señor Soul. Such is the diversity of Blues, Dennis Greaves only found out who wrote the song after he…

“Walked into a bar and heard the track playing in the background and thought, this is great who is it? So I got my phone out which has the app SHAZAM and found out it was Señor Soul a band that would soon become War.  War were famous for a track called Low Rider and featured the Harmonica player Lee Oscar. I thought this is a perfect start to a new project: Best of the Blues by Nine Below Zero taking in all the shades the Blues offers. The next move was to start a playlist on Spotify and to share it with the band, so began 13 Shades of Blue.”

- Dennis Greaves

It’s obvious Nine Below Zero have done their research on the wide variety of Blues sub-genres that exist.  Album closer Paper in My Shoe by Boozoo Chavis exemplifies this with its Zydeco and Cajun influences.

Singer/guitarist Dennis Greaves formed Stan’s Blues Band in 1977 with school friends, then recruited harmonica maestro Mark Feltham who lived on the same Peabody Estate in Tulse Hill, South London. “I thought we were the only people playing blues, but when we got on the circuit I discovered there were other bands out there”, Greaves remembers. “There was Red Beans And Rice, The Blues Band, The Little Roosters, The Inmates, Dr Feel good – it was quite a big thing.” Changing their name to Nine Below Zero in 1979 and signing to A&M Records, they released their classic live set Live At The Marquee. The Glyn Johns-produced Don’t Point Your Finger followed in 1981 as well as an appearance on BBC TV’s The Old Grey Whistle Test. Their last album before splitting, Third Degree followed in 1982,the band promoting single Eleven Plus Eleven on the first episode of hit comedy The Young Ones. Greaves reformed Nine Below Zero in 1990 with Feltham, who left in 1992 but rejoined in 2001. They are still an incendiary live act as those who witnessed their 2014 show at the ‘100 Club for The Blues‘ second birthday can attest, and all that listen to 13 Shades of Blue can attest it is a fitting and accurate tribute to the Blues.

After a live debut on the Acoustic Stage at Glastonbury 2016, the Nine Below Zero Big Band will be embarking on a 30 date tour to support the album.
